Ernie (Big Cat) Ladd

R.I.P. "Big Cat"

"Rasslin" was never the same after Mid-South went down. I was a "rasslin" nut when I was a kid and I too was scared to death of "The Big Cat" Ernie Ladd. He just had something that stood out about him. Bee Rad you're right about that big boot, but Ladd also had one of the most vicious chest slaps in the business.

God Bless him and his family.

My condolencesgo out to his family and friends. He had a great football career and a great wrestling career. He also came back to Grambling to coach for a while. A class act all the way around. He will be missed by many.

Mid-South was awesome. Ah, how I rooted for the Midnight Express, yet the "golden boys" of the Rock & Roll Express usually carried the day. It was rigged!!!

Man, am I surprised to see this thread. I actually live in Franklin and hadn't heard about this. I don't remember him playing football because that was before my time, but I can remember watching him on Midsouth Wrestling on Saturday nights. I would see him from time to time walking down Main St. about 7 or 8 years or so ago and if you stopped to talk to him he was always willing to say a few words to you. R I P Big Cat.

>>"I'm gonna whoop that dirty Dog. I'm gonna teach him a lesson his daddy shoulda taught him 20 years agoooooooooo!"

hahahahahaha

"Let me tell you something Reeser Baudin. That Pokechops Cash is a no good, lowdown (gotta clench those teeth)..."

hahaha

>>Duggan, Dr. Death, Terry Taylor, Dirty White Boys, Rock n Roll Express, Midnight Express, Guerreros, "Big Cat"

I'm thinking more along the lines of Killer Karl Kox, The Spoiler, Billy Robinson, The General Skandar Akbar, etc.

But the Midnight Express did rule.

Ah, the glory days of Mid-South Wrestling. Ernie Ladd was the BEST heel that sports entertainment ever had. He could cut the best promos ever i.e. "I'm gonna beat your dirty socks off you dirty Junkyard Dog!!" and had great in-ring skills too. After he retired, he was very active in Texas with youth programs and other charitable causes. As a long-time fan of pro-wrestling, I will miss this great man very much.
