ESPN’s Dan Graziano: “If Mike Tomlin becomes available, no coach is safe! “ (1 Viewer)

Tomlin does have a “No trade clause” in his contract. However he could waive that if the right team comes calling. I could see him leaving if Dallas calls him.
Man, Tomlin going to the Cowboys would make me sick. He's not gonna put up with Jerry's meddling and Tomlin would turn them into perennial contenders.

I want Tomlin in a bad way. Gayle gotta show him the money and let him make player/personnel decisions.

That said, the Steelers aren't letting him go imo.

Mike Tomlin with Loomis would lowkey be such a lethal combination. The amount of players that WANT to play for Tomlin is only limited by the amount of money the Steelers want to spend in free agency. Combine Tomlin with Loomis and you could turn around the Saints in two years.

If Tomlin leaves Pittsburgh, it's because he wants leave. I just don't see that happening. But then again, I thought Payton wanted to stay in New Orleans forever too.
So many Pittsburgh fans want him fired. I see it weekly, and every time, I am as blown away by their ignorance and spoiled ways as I was the last time.

Would the Steelers take Carr off our hands in a trade? Would Tomlin want to coach here? Thinking about it and I think Tomlin stays. Tomlin has to waive the no trade clause. I only see he him waive it for a team like Dallas, Philly, NY, MIAMI.
Giants aren't a very good team and won't be contending in such a tough division like the NFC East for some time. Dallas would be a great landing spot but they have a corrosive, difficult highly egocentric owner who is so heavily involved in running the teams' day-to-day decisions, its next to impossible for his HC'S to be allowed to run the team the way they want or need to because essentially, Jerry Jones becomes like a rival, second HC. And its been that way for over 30 years since he fired Jimmy Johnson and after they won a third SB basically with an absentee HC built around Jimmy's guys. Nearly years after SB XXX, Dallas still hasn't even come close to sniffing a NFCCG appearance, much less a Super Bowl and at 82 years old, Jones knows he doesn't have too much time left.

Why would Tomlin want to.immerse himself in such a difficult, mindless headache of an organization of an owner where he wouldn't enjoy the sort of privileges and access he's had for nearly two decades in Pittsburgh? How would he end up being any different then past great HC's Jones ran into the ground like Bill Parcells or now Mike McCarthy? If Bill Belichick's price or off-and-on field demands werent so high and unreasonable, there's a very good chance he'd likely be the next Cowboys HC because it no secret both sides possibly met or discussed something hypothetically in the form of a deal and Jones wanted Belichick, for the right price and under CERTAIN AGREED conditions.

Miami isn't an option, at least in the current term because Ross issued a statement 100% backing Mike McDaniel after the team's season-ending finale which saw them lose to a shiftless, disorganized 4-12 Jets team and departing future HOF QB Aaron Rodgers.

Good points but sometimes coaches just want new scenery. Why would SP want out of Saints(Besides cap issues) for Denver? It is you never know situations.

You do know that in his heart of hearts, Jerry Jones would prefer and killed to have signed Bill Belicheck. That's the sort of guy he'd want running his team right now and it would've been a done deal by now and Belicheck's press conference as the new Cowboys HC with a smiling, smug Jones by his side would soon be taking place. Problem is, Bill probably wanted too much power, control and influence over team personnel decisions like FA signings, hiring/firing assistants, scouting and deciding on incoming drafts. A similar sort of amount of power and influence he enjoyed in New England for 22 years and knowing Jones' manaiacal, paranoid obsessive need for control, that simply wasnt going to happen.

The problem is that the Steelers don't have a quarterback.

And they go through offensive coordinators like crazy. That's the problem with defensive head coaches. You lose the good OCs and may have to go through a bunch of bad ones. Finally he has one he'd probably keep in Arthur Smith but I don't think they're winning a super bowl without a franchise QB.

If he truly wanted a new challenge, their are far better, more preferable options Tomlin could choose from to take on and rebuild other then some perennial, continuous endless migraine that is being a Cowboys HC under Jerry Jones. At the end of the day, it's just not worth the perpetual insanity and internal frustration he'd face trying to build and construct a new identity in Dallas with Jones' incessant meddling no matter how much more money Jones could offer him.

Tomlin is arguably the 3rd best coach since hired in 2007 and has never had a losing season. Guaranteed HoF.

If I’m an AFC coach, I’m looking for an NFC job in the West or South. Both those divisions are winnable with good coaching and solid talent.

Problem is, look at how long Pittsburgh went without having that franchise Pro-Bowl QB after Bradshaw retired following the 1983 season and the team slogged on the rest of 80's with still-good defenses, decent RB's but forgettable, mediocre QB's like Mark Malone, David Woodley, Neil O'Donnell and even though they enjoyed a resurgence under Bill Cowher in the 1990's, pre-Ben, the best overall QB he had was Kordell Stewart and he was originally drafted as a WR. Even under most of Cowher's tenure, until the very end, they lacked that key, main ingredient to complete the teams' offensive identity. They essentially went 21 years without having that prolific, perennial franchise QB even though they still had extremely talented, deep depth-laden teams loaded with Pro Bowlers.

It would be the dumbest move by Pittsburgh and I would throw the whole bank at him to get him here. Even teams with an established coaching staff would take a look. Its crazy how impatient this league and its fans can be when it comes to coaches and QBs. The Steelers are in the playoffs! They haven't had a losing season in 22 years!

They're generally cheap on offense. Their 6 highest cap numbers are all on defense. Their highest paid offensive player is Freiermuth. That strategy keeps them "winning," but they'll never win it all or even be a serious contender until they get a real offense. Is a defensive head coach holding them back on offense? Maybe...

Tomlin is arguably the best active coach in the NFL, If the steelers let him go they are fools. If he is available, we should trade the farm for him.

He hasn't had a team win a playoff game in a decade. There's plenty better active coaches.
Give me a team that's in the playoffs every year and I'll be happy. Once they hit on a QB they will be instant SB contenders.
