ESPN’s Mel Kiper mocks Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart to Saints at #9 (28 Viewers)

This can’t be the only reason he’s not ranked higher. There has to be other issues.

The rankings you see are often driven by media and hype. They don't get the teams/scouts/coaches/gms rankings. But as things like senior bowl, combine and pro days occur, nuggets are dropped by the scouts/coaches/gms to the media and the media begins to adjust its draft boards. This is why Bo Nix rose so much last year after the senior bowl and ended up a top 10 pick. It's why the same thing is happening to Jaxson Dart, Yahya Black, Jayden Higgins etc. But not all rankings are updated. Black and Higgins rankings haven't rose at all but apparently teams really like both of them. McCord is similar. Media rankings are likely just wrong as they don't put hardly any focus or care about players they have going on Day 3. There's just simply no clicks, or people watching videos if you make one on Higgins, or Black, Or McCord. With media, its all about $$$$ and what drives the clicks and video watches.

Point being. Don't trust the media. These are some of the same fools saying Sanders may be the best QB in the draft. They're saying it because its what drives the clicks/watches.

A perfect example of this is Tyler Warren. Media had him a Day 2 pick, going in round 3 end of December. But as many actually watched him in the playoffs and people started talking about him, he moved up to round 2 by the media. By end of January it was end of round 1. Now its top 10. Yet the people who watched him during the season were saying top 15 the since November.

I cant buy into Dart. Compate his numbers against bad ot lowel teams to Ranked or good teams there is a huge contrast. A legitimate prospect should perform at a good level against good and ranked teams

I clearly said I don’t want a QB in the first, although Darts ceiling is way higher than Sanders in my opinion. I don’t want any of the top QBs in this draft. I’d take the kid from Syracuse over all of them later. That’s if I had to take a QB

Beware of late rising QBs?

Lamar Jackson - late riser

Justin Hebert - late riser

Jordan Love - late riser

Jayden Daniels - later riser

JJ McCarthy - late riser

Michael Penix Jr - late riser

Philip Rivers - late riser

Joe Burrow - wasn’t ever considered a first round pick till his senior year which is still a late riser

But then there’s also the likes of Daniel
jones and Zach Wilson that were late risers so it goes both ways.

Lamar Jackson actually fell to #28. Herbert was always seen as a high first round pick. Love fell to #24. Daniels was clearly going to be a high first round pick by the middle of his senior year. Same with Penix, Rivers, and Burrow.

None of those guys are late risers other than McCarthy and he hasn't played a down in the NFL so who knows if he will be good or another in a long list of first round busts.

But, sure just because a guy is a late riser doesn't mean he won't be good, but all I said was to beware. If the Saints had a high grade on him and think he's worth the #9 pick then fine take him. But that doesn't appear to be the case. They have him graded below Sanders and as you said, they have a 2nd round grade on Sanders.

Louis Riddick, who has nailed the last couple of drafts at QB raves about the Syracuse and Louisville QBs, he says they both can sling it.
Maybe we should take a shot with one these and use our 9 to shore up the tightend position.

You know how I know the Saints aren't going to draft a player at their slot? Mel Kiper mocks that player to the Saints at that slot.

If the Saints take a QB, it will be because Milroe value fell to them. Otherwise, they're rolling with what they got. The group as a whole is below average at best.
