N/S ESPN, Fox, and Warner Bros. form "Venu" Sports Streaming service (1 Viewer)

Without the NFL, it won’t survive.

The NFL is listed first as one of the things you can watch on the service.

I'll probably subscribe during college football season. I have been paying for YouTube TV during football season, but with this I can save $20 or more on the cost of YouTube TV which I really only get for the sports coverage. It's not a great deal at $40 to $50 per month, but it's a bit better than paying for YouTube TV at $73 per month.

My mistake.

Yeah, except you have to remember that the NFL has already signed exclusive contracts for most of their games. The only ones that you'll get to see on this new service are those games assigned to one of the participants of this service. They won't bust NFL Sunday Ticket or those games already assigned elsewhere.

And "Fox" is really "Fox Sports". From the article:

"We’re pumped to bring the FOX Sports portfolio to this new and exciting platform. We believe the service will provide passionate fans outside of the traditional bundle an array of amazing sports content all in one place,” said FOX CEO Lachlan Murdoch.

So, I would guess that the only NFL games shown will be Monday Night Football. Everything else is already spoken for.

Something similar for NBA, I would expect, as the NBA lets each team choose who they want to carry their games and they wouldn't want to bust League Pass. Still, it could be more flexible than the NFL. We'll have to see

Serena Williams is possibly the GOAT of ladies tennis. However, if she played on the Men’s circuit, she would probably be ranked around 500. And she is pretty damn good.
Do men hit harder, genuinely asking not trying be funny tennis just seem to me to be more level with the limited court space and you can only put so much power without losing control. I have a very limited knowledge on tennis I never thought the advantage would be to something like basketball or something

No regional sports networks so I'd STILL have to subscribe to something else as well. I THINK they're trying to see if this will fly since sticking points in many contract renegotiations with broadcasters/streamers is often the exorbitant price of the sports packages bundled into offerings. I'm POSITIVE the price of Venu will be ridiculously, prohibitively high as well.

I think this is incorrect. You'd also get the 12pm and 3pm games that are on Fox too. Since Fox broadcast NFC games, that could be advantageous to fans in those markets. And as stated, you'd get the MNF games, too. You would not get the CBS or NBC games.

I think the regional sports networks are close to bankruptcy.
It’s gonna be a problem for the NBA.

We'll see.

But the Fox spokesman ONLY mentioned Fox sports. And as Fox is actually a full bodied network otherwise, why would they carry sitcoms, dramas, movies, etc. on this new conglomerate?

Then think about local stations. Do you think they would give up their income from broadcasting the local NFL team? Big ad value. Sure, they would still get some income but their share would drop which automatically slices their ad revenue.

So, no, I don't see that happening. It will be just a very few games, probably only MNF and maybe a playoff game and perhaps Fox's nationally televised games

And, don't forget - broadcasting local games on Venu will cut into the NFL's own Sunday Ticket value.

Edit:
Even now, the network streamers (Peacock, Paramount) only show a couple of games per week. Venu isn't going to be able to neutralize all of the painstakingly setup broadcasting that exists.

Yeah. I read the article. Your post doesn't change anything I posted. Contracts cannot be broken just because Venu wants something different. Its all about the money.

This what I predicted above:

Just watch and see. They're not getting what you think. Revisit this during the season and we'll chat about it again then. Bookmark this thread. I will.

It's not that serious but sure. With Fox running lead on this and based on what the article stated, it seems like Fox's weekly national slate will be on the app along with Disney's MNF. Otherwise, it's just MNF. No contracts have to be broken for that to happen. Fox has the rights to air certain games. This doesn't change that.

Which is exactly what I have been saying. See my quote of my post above. My only reservation (why I used "perhaps") is the National slate. But it is what Paramount & Peacock do (I said this also) so maybe. Depends on how the current contracts are structured. They certainly won't be showing Fox local NFL games.

Then I'm not sure what you're taking umbrage toward. That's all I've stated from the beginning. Glad we're on the same page.

THIS. I thought this was incorrect. I still do. I've stated why and you seemed to agree that the Fox weekly national broadcast would be included too. But now we're here again. It's find to disagree. Move on.
