Even missing playoffs Allen deemed “safe” (1 Viewer)

I have defended Mickey adamantly in regards to his cap management style, however this is where he just loses me.

Holding onto Allen reeks of "I am going to prove to the world that I was right and look like a genius if it works out" rather than doing what is CLEARLY the right thing to do.

For Allen to fail with this schedule with our current roster makeup, to me, just epitomizes him as a losing HC.

We will never sniff a championship under his leadership, and that is clear to everyone except the one person that matters.

This decision is both a football blunder, and a corporate blunder.

Because you just paid one of them $150 million and the other is on the downside of his career and no longer worth the headache
No we over paid for someone who’s in the downside of their career too. Carr is who he is and will not improve. So if Thomas is not worth it at his price what makes Carr? Thomas was at least on a HOF track Carr was never.

Why couldn't they do the exact same thing on offense?
Dennis hasn't shown anything remotely that he's a good head coach like Bryan Kelly? Like on Allen best day... I think he can get you 10 wins and a 1st round exit. His team are so penalty ridden and inconsistent from week to week while being unprepared or battling slow starts/stalling out.

We shall see. But if the team does nothing of any significance, then get ready for another terrible season.

Personally, the only way for me to accept another year of DA is if he:

1. Fires &/or demote Carmichael & brings in a new OC w/modern day NFL philosophies to innovate our brutally outdated offense. As much as our D fell off this year, our O never really actually ever on. I believe that our lack of innovation & identity on O is what poisoned the season.

2. Fire ALL the offensive coaches while we’re at it. I remember at the start of this season Underhill talking about how after Payton & Strief left, there wasnt an “enforcer” on the coaching staff to call out players & break them off for making mistakes. DA desperately needs to bring in a coach, or coaches, w/the balls to pull a guys card for screwing up. The staff needs a presence that forces guys to be accountable for their mistakes.

3. DA has to figure out how to modernize his defensive scheme. Specifically how we defend mobile/run based QBs. Maybe, JUST MAYBE, DA should change the “type” of EDGE players he historically prefers from power based DEs to more edge bending speed based EDGE defenders. Sick & freaking tired of watching our DEs come inches away from a sack, only to be out maneuvered, outrun & murdered by a QBs legs. Its truly become a fatal flaw at this point, an achilles heal.

4. DA needs to some how, some way, learn from 2 frustrating seasons of utter mediocrity. The dude wasted a playoff level roster & seems to have no clue how to adjust, manage & maximize the talent he has at his disposal. DA needs to literally be the opposite of how he’s been these last 2 years & come out hardcore, angry as hell & out for revenge in 24. He has to kill this soft spoken false positivity cause the on field product is garbage & isnt worth the emotional investment.

5. Please, please, PLEASE draft a QB early on either Day 1 or 2, cause Carr isnt it. Sure, he played better down the stretch, but seriously…CARR ISNT IT. The addition of a potential franchise QB could quickly change the narrative. Example: Andy Reid went from Alex Smith to Mahomes & Sean Mcdermott went from Tyrod to Josh Allen. Both teams were middle of the pack teams & in the very similar situations as we were, & drafting a QB reset their franchises in a good way.

I doubt DA does anything of note, but here’s to hoping he does. Either way, i look forward to 2025, cause 24 looks like its gonna a rough one right now.

It’s been rumor and looking more and more likely that anyone who stood up to DA this year will be gone. AK, Lattimore, Thomas….. DA will ruin this proud franchise in one off season. Watch….
Hopefully this is all just a smokescreen and the front office and owner are just not wanting to throw anyone under the bus to maintain the look of a supportive team

Carolina losing the ball at the goaline and giving the Bucs a touchback is such a Saints thing to happen.

I think that's a TOUCHDOWN!!

I'm just doing the "Eye Test" but this has got to be one of the easiest schedules the team has had in a decade. Front office would be foolish investing further (playoff or not) into this team. Coaching/Team not good enough and should start to rebuild without Coach SP ghost in the building.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Dennis Allen is currently expected to return to the Saints for 2024.

Today’s game against the Falcons could, in theory, change that. If a horrible coaching blunder turns a win into a loss, for example, a fresh look might be warranted. For now, however, Allen is not believed to be part of the problem in New Orleans.

The Saints are confident that their fortunes will improve with enhancements to the roster, along with some cultural tweaks. The feeling is that too much blame is being placed on Allen and quarterback Derek Carr for the team’s struggles in 2023, and that Allen and Carr could be key components of a resurgence in 2024.

Are they watching how poorly prepared our defense is today?

Of course Loomis feels this way, these are his bros and if he ditches them Loomis admits he forked up hiring Allen and signing Carr. He’s not going to do that, the man is terrified of admitting that anything that he’s done is part of the problem which is why he refuses to make the big changes necessary and rebuild the team like they should have done years ago.

I'm already seeing the future, us after having missed the playoffs, Loomis will get on his glorious "coach's show" and compare Carr to Brees and Allen to Payton every chance he gets. Woohoo.
