Evidence for God (1 Viewer)

Thread resurrected once again. Just a reminder to members: do not copy and paste the work of others and post it as your own. Please cite the source, use quotation marks, and/or keep it short with a link back to the original source. Posting without any of these indications leaves the impression the post is your own work, which violates copyright laws. As always, you can summarize or discuss the topic in your own words. Thanks.

I think there should be a minimum of 100 posts by the OP before starting a recycled thread about god or politics... UNLESS they contribute. Oh, and, as a conservative, intelligent design is retarTed.

This thread delivers. Delivers what, I'm not sure. Redemption? Certainly not. I don't think anyone who's sifted through all this dreck will have their opinions swayed in the least.

I have, however, laughed at some posts (mostly my own, granted), been impressed by the theological knowledge by others (mostly the opposers of the OP, actually) and merely shook my head at the pointlessness of the fact that we now have in excess of 12 pages of drivel which did naught but waste some of my time. In the offseason, sometimes that's all one can ask for.

I think that we can all agree that nobody's mind was changed, and that some people are dumb.

GEAUX SAINTS!!!

If we use Occam's razor, which states that one should use the simplest logical explanation for any phenomenon, we would eliminate the super universe/multi-universe explanation in favor of the simpler God-designed universe model.

I'll use Occam's razor to bust up your scientific evidence.

Scenario #1: God created the world and people as described in the bible. He took seven days, to create different parts of the world, the animals, people. He then took a rib from the first guy to turn into the first woman. Yadda yadda yadda, I think you're familiar with how it goes, it's quite a fantastical and popular story.

Scenario #2: Sponge Bog Square Pants snapped his fingers and everything we know came to be.

Which is the simpler explanation?

I think they are one in the same, right?

I don't think it's an accident that there's no "Scientific Proof". It's evident in scripture that God wanted man to reach out in "Faith". Do that and you will have all the proof you need.

Right, and we can look at the Exodus as one time He decided to come down here and personally handle it, in all of His "pillar of smoke by day/fire by night", "sea-parting", "manna from Heaven", glory...and the stupid ******** still ran around building graven images and second-guessing Him anyway. :jpshakehead:

That would put a bad taste in my mouth, too.

I'm saying that, according to the story of Moses and the Exodus of the Israelites from Egypt, God pretty-much was hands-on leading that whole parade. It didn't matter. Even with the "proof" in front of them (read the book), the people were still disobedient.

it seems that an all knowing god that awards "free will" to his science project would understand that he might actually be questioned.....

so, why is this a problem??? he supposedly gives us the ability to think on our own.....but then he punishes us for not believing what other people tell us

the whole thing sounds fishy to me

I've read it and know the story well. I don't think their disobedience was a surprise to God. But if you know that story then I'm betting you know about the new testament as well. The part where god cut out the need for any man to follow a law and instead just have a relationship with him. Maybe he did that because of the exodus experience. Maybe he knew we'd still be very disobedient even when we did reach out in faith. Bottom line is believers are still disobedient today. They're just covered by grace.
