Extend Ingram NOW!!! (1 Viewer)

There is absolutely no way he is top 5 at this current time. If he keeps up his current production through the rest of the year he may have an argument.

Luckily we get to evaluate him for the rest of the year before making a decision.

Robinson and Ingram will be back next year. They are a dynamic running duo.

I'm not saying he is, at this exact moment.

But lets say his production continues at a similar pace to what we've seen this year. Who would you rather have for the next 4 years? Forte? Lynch? Foster?

I'll give you McCoy & Murray, those guys are studs. But if you look at the list of RB's in the NFL, Ingram (in the right system) has the potential to be in the top 5 conversation. For that reason, he would be silly to not look for that kind of money. He may not find it and may be back for the Saints next year, I sure do hope so.

But, he will more than likely be offered more money by another team this offseason. And history shows, most players follow the cash.

He's been an entirely different player since (a) we switched to a zone blocking scheme similar to what he played in at Alabama, and (b) we are forced by injuries to stop subbing him out every other play

Agreed. Been saying since he came here the kid had talent, but its tough to get into a rhythm when you're subbed every other play.

How do you think Drew would perform being subbed out every two plays or so. Sometimes it takes a few series to learn your opponent and how they're defending you. I personally think Ingram will play well the rest of this season then sign with another team that fits his running style better. Then he will flourish. Just my opinion but I see it coming a mile away.

The way running back value over all is dropping, I don't think someone will over pay for Ingram unless he pulls off 100+yd games through the rest of the season.

I've said this since after last season...over and over again.

**pats self on back...walks out.**

Lets not anoint Ingram MVP just yet but damn. Boy got skills. If Payton were smart and Id like to think he is. Keep feeding this kid against Carolina next week.

Ingram needs carry after carry after carry to get into a rhythm. As this happens you start to see the cut back lanes more clearly holes seem bigger. Its very hard to come in every third or forth play you get no rhythm or balance to your game. I think this is the only way to use a back like Ingram. The Saints need to get rid of Cadet and leave the Carries to Ingram with Robinson to spell him and Pierre to run the screens and third down. Saints need to get rid of the running back by committee and commit to one back.

Just watch the minute we don't resign Ingram and he is picked up by the Rams or Giants (just examples) he becomes the feature back. You will see him having 1300 yd seasons.

I'm just worried once PT comes back SP will just end up going back to giving Ingram the ball 8-10 times a game.

At what price?

Ingram needs to play for a team that relies heavily on its running game and is willing to have one principal running back who will get the majority of the carries game after game. He is simply a better fit for, and has more value to, other teams than he does to the Saints.

And there is the paradox that though Ingram seems to play best when he gets 15 or more carries, that type of workload increases materially the risk of injury.

What we need at running back is a legitimate replacement for Sproles and Reggie.

Unfortunately I was thinking the same thing. I don't think the money is there for MI with KR and PT here. Not with Cam Jordan's payday around the bend. Don't get me wrong, I love me some MI...I just don't think we keep him (too much money), and that's a shame.

If we trade both Jarrius Byrd, and Jimmy Graham. Yall think I am insane ( stupid) to propose we trade Jimmy Graham, but If we traded Jimmy Graham with Jarrius Bryd we could replace Graham with Josh Hill,!and we would free up 100 million dollars over 6 years, 80 million over 4 years.

That leaves a lot of room to resign Mark Ingram, and go after defense in free agency, and the draft. We need defense and a running game.

Look I love Jimmy Graham, but is he worth a 4 year 40 million dollar contract? Specially when you have a decent tight end in Josh Hill.

Yes, he's worth it.
