Falcons hiring Raheem Morris as HC (3 Viewers)

I’d think they value Fields more. Daniel’s though being hot right now could still totally come in and fizzle out , they at least know Fields is a baller and an Atlanta favorite
I think they can snatch Fields up for a 2nd (Chi has literally zero leverage so a 2 may still be high). I think ATL either trades for Fields or drafts Daniels, but you have to think keeping your 1st and getting the known quantity is pretty enticing. I think they value Fields exactly for this reason

1 Chi-QB
2 Wash-QB
3 NE - QB very possible
4 AZ probably not
5 LAC no
6 NYG QB very possible
7 Ten Qb possible
I count 2 for sure , 2 very possible and 1 possible. I think CW, DM and JD will be off the board by the time Atl picks. All the rest of the QBs are more of a crap shoot
If they want any shot at the top 3 they'll have to trade up with NE or LA .
Sign a FA QB ? Ok who? Cousins is the best FA QB this yr and I look for him to stay in Minny. Jimmy G? Better have a good backup for when he goes down.
Even if Robinson is the OC that's a ? as well. He's never called plays before in his life
Morris's record is just slightly better than DA's. AND he had your guy . Wait, can we trade JW to ATL??

I agree that CW, DM, and JD will be off the board within the first 5 picks. Cousins or Fields could be the wild card QBs targeted by Atl.

Giants have an out in 25 so it's not as tied up as you'd think.
Levis really seemed to regress after a good start. I think Callahan will want his own guy. Tannehill is an FA
I think the 1st 3 picks are going to be QBs and no trades Williams , Maye and Daniels

I still think that Chicago trades down out of the first pick, maybe only one spot with Washington so that the Commanders get the QB they want out of all of them. And I think that guy is CW who is from the DC area. The Bears may trade down again at that point. And just the same, the team behind them at that point would be NE and they may want the better fit of the remaining two QBs. Of course another team could leap frog NE to get to that spot. The Bears traded down twice last year and hit the Lotto and they are sitting in the catbird seat to do it again. With a few moves they could wind up drafting the best WR and one of the best OTs in the draft in the top 10, while stockpiling more picks and possibly receiving some top talented players in a trade deal. With the right moves in the draft the Bears are going to be a team to be reckoned with very soon.

In regard to Atl. they have to do something to improve their QB room. Trading for Fields as a hometown favorite could allow them to pick BPA at 8. Cousins would be more of a sure thing for the short term. I'd be surprised if Cousins leaves Minnesota and JJ. And I'd be a little surprised if the Bears trade Fields. With those two off the table Atl. may not be in position to trade up for one of the top 3 if Wash, NE, Tenn or NYG leverage their positions ahead of the Clowns.

BB needs to rest up a bit. 27 years coaching is something else. Saints needs to see if he is willing to rest up and take our OC job. Less pressure on him for the year and maybe another head coaching job ( somewhere close,,wink wink)
First of all, he is 26 head coaching wins from being #1 on the all-time list. That is motivation to keep going. And second, he has never coached or ran on offense in those 27 years…

I find the criticism of the hire a little lazy.

I really don't know if Morris will be successful, but certainly he is a very interesting candidate.

- His hire as a head coach in Tampa wa a gamble. He may have been the youngest head coach at the time, and Tampa was trying to do similar at what Pittsburgh did with Tomlin.

- Both in his tenures at Tampa and Atlanta, he coached teams that were on the process of being torn and rebuilt.

- He made his reputation coaching defensive backs, but he has been in staffs coaching offense and defence.

- People swear about his leadership skills.

I think that Morris, more than being consider a mastermind of coaching one unit of a team, has the attraction of working all over and has the experience of being a head coach.

I think he can succeed, if he is able to build a competitive staff, and give the coordinators to build and call games as they see fit.

I think it is an interesting hire.
Kind of sounds familiar, doesn't it?

I know a lot of people are laughing at the Morris hire, but I think it's actually kind of smart. By all accounts he is likable, well organized, well respected, and knows how to run a team. If he can add decent X's and O's guys behind him for play design and a decent play caller on offense, he could be very successful in Atlanta. If the reports about his popularity in NFL coaching circles are correct, he might be an attractive guy to work for. Even just the contrast between someone like him and DA or Josh Daniels is pretty evident.

I think Waldron took the Bears job because of that #1 pick and to work with CW. I don't think any of the top 3 teams trade because they all need QBs . If they hold on to Fields it's only because they don't want to start a rookie QB with a New OC

The more I study this selection, the more I think Morris was a good choice by Atlanta.

I expect Atlanta to make a big trade for a quarterback. I do not think the top three teams will trade down. I think Chicago will trade Fields to Atlanta for this year's two and other compensation, though I wonder whether Chicago might ask for Atlanta's 2025 first-round pick.

They will get a good QB and run this division, they have the best OC in the division.

Just slightly better actually.
Due to that insane 10-6 year in 2010 when the Bucs like the rest of us played what was the NFC Worst division as well as the Bengals, Browns, Commanders, Lions, and Panthers in their first year without Jake Delhomme. You thought Saints had an easy schedule in 2023? That schedule takes the cake.
