Falcons or Lions (1 Viewer)

I'd take ATL in the Dome. The Falcons are overrated and there's nothing like beating your rival 3 times in a year.

It's hard to beat a team three times in the same year, no matter how much better you are than them. I'd rather face the Lions.

I don't know that I disagree with you but in this thread - BigA did the research - and it shows that theory is not mathematically sound.

I recently researched the numbers on beating the same team 3 times in same season since it is very possible we will play Falcons 3 times this season since Lions won this week and should win next week with Packers resting starters.

Here it is, 19 times since 1970 have teams faced each other 3 times in same season. 3 wins has happened 12 times out of 19 possible. That's a 70.5% chance for 3rd win after two wins in same season. The last time it happened was just 2 years ago with Steelers beating Ravens 3 times.

The theory behind numbers is that the reason one team beats the other twice in regulars season is because it's the better team and this is why such a high rate of 70.5% to get 3rd win.

Just read that it's a 70% chance that the team that wins first 2 will win 3rd

Would be nice to beat the Failclowns for a third time in one season.

Both are very good teams who could be dangerous in the playoffs. I would opt for Detroit, however, as they do not have any playoff experience and believe they will have a bit of stage fright in such a big stage as a playoff game. It won't take much IMO for them to break if we get a lead and the Dome is rocking.

The good news is that we will get either at home.

Ok... Assuming we beat Atlanta and both Atlanta n Detroit win next week, who do we play?

****. Looked it up n atl would be 10-6 n Detroit 11-5 n that means we play atl.. I wonder about ties... I'm not going to figure that out... Too much work... Lol

But I would say Detroit... My concern with Detroit is what if they don't shoot themself? Also, Sui didn't play.. He's a difference maker...

If Atlanta loses tonight and beats Tampa next week and Detroit loses to Green Bay, then Atlanta would still be the lower seed because they lost head to head with the Lions.

If we beat Atlanta tonight...I fully expect that we would see the Falcons again in the Wild Card round. I would put the probability of us facing them at 80 to 90%. Here's why

If we win tonight....

Detroit will almost definitely beat Green Bay's backups next weekend.
Atlanta will beat a downtrodden Tampa Team.
Frisco will have little to no trouble with the Rams.

That puts Detroit at 11-5, and Atlanta at 10-6. We, as the #3 seed, would face Atl as the #6 seed.

Like it or not, this definitely seems like the MOST likely scenario. I would greatly prefer to play the Lions - the Falcons have the abililty to keep games w/ us close, even when they are the inferior team.

Ordinarily, I would be in the "beat a team 3 times is tough" boat, so bring on the Lions, BUT, I like the way the Saints match up with the Falcons more than the Lions, and right now, Stafford is playing much better than Ryan. I think the Lions defense is much better overall than the Falcons, and I think they are a more dangerous team than the Falcons. That being said, bring on the Falcons.

I don't buy the whole "it's hard to beat the same team 3 times" thing. That's like saying in roulette that if black comes up 2 times, red should show up the third.

I think if we blow the falcons out today, I'd gladly play a team that has that fresh in their memory.

IDC who we play. Not in our house. long as the crowd is pumped and the defense playing good no one can beat the Saints in the Benz...

We all know the offense gonna show up. But if the defense can keep rolling...Indy here come the WHO DAT NATION!!

If this Saints team gets their minds right, it don't matter who we play, or where we play them.

This is incorrect! Atlanta beat Detroit 23- 16
If both finish with the same record the Lions would be the lower seed (6th).

:scratch::scratch::scratch::9::9::9::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi:....WHO DAT!! Bring on whoever!!

Win three games and we go to INDY. Personally I think GB gonna choke in the playoffs. NFCCG played in the BENZ DOME!!

SAINTS and ATL will meet again for the NFCCG in the BENZ.

Saints over 49ers
Falcons over GB
