Favorite Childhood Books (3 Viewers)

i had a bunch of Choose Your Own Adventure books as a kid but my favorites will always be the Calvin & Hobbes books my sister bought for me
Love Calvin & Hobbes

My Dad got me the first treasury and had to yell at me to stop reading at night because I was laughing so hard

As a younger child

I was out of town this weekend and the hotel room randomly had a copy of the Little Prince

It wasn’t mine but I know a lot of people say it’s one of their favorites and is often listed as one of the best children’s books of all time

So I read it and honestly don’t know if I had read it before, nothing seemed familiar while reading it

It was alright. Not my cup of tea but I can see why some really like it

Same same .. Encyclopedia Brown was my jam.. also greatly enjoyed the Hardy Boys .. and Judy Blume had a series of books for boys, i remember the male counterpart to Are you there god its me Margaret was a book called ‘Then Again maybe i Wont’… and did she write Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing and Superfudge or was that Beverly Cleary ? I think it was JB………. Anyway all that came to a halt in the 8th grade when i read Catcher in the Rye and since then life’s never been the same .
Those were Judy Blume

Beverly Cleary was the Ramona series, Henry Huggins and Mouse and the Motorcycle

Judy Blume, Beverly Cleary, Roald Dahl are obvious - loved them all along with encyclopedia brown etc - there was a series about the Great Brain that i remember i liked as well (i think it was about a young grifter-type). Gordon Korman is one that people may not know of on that level - I Want to Go Home, No Coins Please - fantastic books

We have a Japanese student going through some profound homesickness
She and her mom were talking with our principal (a former English teacher)
They were having trouble communicating until principal took out The Little Prince and they started drawing and talking about the drawings and then life stuff

This last one definitely could benefit from updated illustration. It was one of my absolute favorites though.

Loved the 5 Chinese Brothers.

Most impactful book was A Wrinkle in Time and the series it started. I was into science fiction and liked Bradbury as well.

I also really liked From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs Basil E Frankweiler

Loving the movie I read Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh. I was surprised that there was no magic medallion in the book

I didn’t care for Wrinkle in Time didn’t read a whole lot of Bradbury but liked Dandelion Wine and Something Wicked Comes This Way
