Force Feeding DA is About Loomis Trying to Prove that He Can Win a Championship Without Payton and Brees (1 Viewer)

How do you know this?

And if he has such a huge ego, why did he let Payton and Brees take all the credit all those years?
Bro, how do I know?
You have probably been watching football longer than me.
Just because he let Brees and Payton take credit all of those years, that doesn't mean his ego wasn't massive.

He has just never seemed like that guy to me. But sure, anyone that works for an NFL team is going to have some amount of ego. But even if he does what difference does it make? He has no choice but to prove that he can win it without Payton and Brees. What other option is there?

I've heard him speak before but there is nothing in what he said that gives any evidence that he has some kind of obsession with proving he can win without Payton. If he wanted that, he would not have done everything he could to keep Payton here all those years when he was flirting with other teams. And he would have hired the guy Payton endorsed to be his first HC post Payton.

Beyond all that he's never sought the spotlight and has spoken more now because DA is terrible with the press and public. And Loomis isn't good at it either. I mean, Loomis has been and NFL GM or in an NFL front office for like 40 years when did he suddenly develop this ego?

But, if you have so indication of what you say he is doing, I'd be happy and interested to look at it.

I don't think Loomis is a great GM, I think he's mid-level and he needs a coach like Payton to lead the organization and be more of the personnel guy. DA clearly isn't that.
I agree with your take. It’s grounded and logical and without conspiracy theory level speculation. This situation is what it looks like. The only reason DA got a longer leash is because Sean Payton bounced back after a three bad year stretch. And ML wanted to make sure he isn’t giving up too early on DA. With this regime, they’ve already found out if Rattler can be a year one difference making starter. And they found out what they have in Jake. Carr will have to win the next 5 games to change the trajectory of this franchise.

People are looking for people to blame. The team just isn’t good without an NFL starting Qb under center. Shocker.

We're in this mess because of the Loomis 'Win now' philosophy.

Stealing money from future years, a boatload of bad contracts, no depth because of bad cap management.

Whoever gets the job after DA better get a guaranteed 5 year deal, because it's going to take that long to dig out of this.

I mean, did you watch that clown show PC last year, with him chomping gum and saying all kinds of crazy BS? I had a clue then that a disaster was coming.....some hope because I liked the Kubiak hire, but here we are.....

I did and it wasn't good. As far as the gum thing, he had a cold and was chewing the gum to try to help keep his mouth from getting dry. It was a poor decision but for a guy with a big ego he sure seems to make fun of himself for that gum chomping incident quite often.

And I'm not going to throw away 20 years worth of what appears to be a decent guy and start character assassinations because he had a bad press conference and chewed gum in another press conference. This is the same guy who when he was praised for being so smart for finding Kamara in the 3rd round pointed out that if he was really smart, he would have drafted him in the first round.

I've got no time for the personal attacks on people when none of us here actually know them. But, if you want to talk about the things he has done, sure he needs to get the cap better under control and stop going all in, he needs to have better drafts, and he needs to fire DA. I think he has started to do the first two with limited free agent signings and not making big trade ups in the draft, but much more work needs to be done on talent evaluation and drafting.

I'm hopeful he will fire DA at the end of the season. But I'm not going to freak out and turn to personal attacks if it doesn't happen during the season since there is really no point in doing it. We aren't making the playoffs so at best a interim coach might win us enough games to get worse draft picks and that's not worth it if you aren't making the playoffs.

If Loomis fails to fire DA by the end of the year, then I'll agree he needs to go to. But, until then I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt since he has been a solid to good, if not great, GM in the past. He gives his head coaches free reign to create a roster, set a coaching staff, pick the players they want in the draft, and gives them the money they need to sign who they want. The problem is that DA can't handle that much power and needs to go.

I agree with all of that except the gum thing lol. If people can’t see what that was and what our coach has had going on for many years then bless their hearts.

This Front office is scared of bringing in somebody new that they don’t know. Even if it meant wins.
