Four Realistic Landing Spots for QB Derek Carr (2 Viewers)

Doesn't matter if we dont have a OC that can use him... if you cant figure out how to use Kamara or Hill, then you dont need to be OC.
Yep. We need the right scheme for him, I don't think PC is that guy. Not sure if our QB coach should also go along with PC. Either way, you are right IMO.

This move may not make them a Super Bowl contender, but it could put them back in the playoffs next season.

Had me till this , I am not looking to just make the playoffs , Super Bowl or Bust once you experienced once you expect nothing less....

I just don’t feel he’s a top notch QB and I’m (foolishly) hoping we strike gold in the draft, next couple of seasons. I’m in the camp of blowing it all up, coaching too, and starting fresh. Think we need a young stud on a cheap rookie deal to get out of cap hell.

If we are going after Carr I’d much rather see what Jameis can do, healthy. I know that ship has sailed, just saying, as he’s signed thru next season as it stands now.
He's not elite but he's still an upgrade with what we have at QB now.

For me he’d be a bridge QB. I wouldn’t trade for him or pay him what his current contract pays. I think it’s likely the Raiders cut him. It’s only a 5mil cap hit for them. I’d do something like 3 years 75 mil. We draft a QB this year or next and he’s the bridge.

I am all for starting Jameis Winston next year, so he can lead us to the worst record in the league. I would do anything to get Caleb Williams, a new Head Coach, and cap space for next year.

I get Wentz vibes from Carr. He looked terrible vs us this year. It’s time to draft a QB in the first round with the Payton pick.

There's no trade in play. Carr's 2023 salary guarantees if he's on the Raiders on Feb. 15. He'll be cut by that date and become a free agent. He's 40M per season to sign and would probably require 4 years and a hefty percentage guaranteed. That $160M would probably be spread over 7 years of caps.

I rate him as a need, but not a must, at that price.

Carr has a no-trade clause so unless a team steps up that really wants him, even on his present deal, and he wants to be there, I think most people are looking at this from the expectation of his being released and signed as a free agent.
As a free agent, cool. We need what few draft resources we have, and they should not be squandered on a slight upgrade at the position.
