I have no problem with those who are gay or not gay. However, if someone's sexuallity defines them, then they probably have values or interests that I'm not interested in. I don't speak about my sexuallity to my cohorts because there are other interests we converse about that don't involve private, sexual matters, like the Saints and football.

Why must someone "come out" as gay? Why doesn't the rest of society come out as not gay? It's because they're not defined by their sexuality. So why come out as gay in a publilc way? For the attention, for dates, for lawsuits, etc.

As someone on the forum said, "I just want to watch football".

Really? You dont get why its hard for people to come out as gay when we still live in a time where just being gay can get you beaten up or even killed, while there is still so much homophobia around, including people like you who claim the only reason someone would ever let you know theyre gay is for attention?
 
So Chris Kluwe is a blowhard idiot but Fujita is a brave leader? Curious...

I'm all in favor of people "coming out"... it shouldn't matter what an athlete likes to do behind closed doors so long as they perform on the football field. It's being made into a bigger deal than it needs to be (thanks for that, Chris Culliver).

Kluwe is an idiot because 1. He's a Viking, 2. He came out against the Saints during bountygate, and 3. He's a Viking.

This day and age, I can't see what the problem is. There are ALWAYS gonna be haters, not just for sexuality but for religion, race, gender etc. BUT...times are changing.
I think, mainly, what is bothering most is not being able to marry. This is the divisive issue. Many feel that marriage is between a man and woman. Marriage goes hand-in-hand with Judeo/ Christian religious beliefs. Like it or not, this country was founded and is still entrenched in those values. Many places in the Bible and Torah is it spelled out that homosexuality is not acceptable. Will these religious institutions be forced to accept, marry homosexuals or even rewrite their books?

No, no one is imposing a requirement for churches to marry gay people. as i understand (and maybe i'm wrong, but i believe people are just pushing for gay people to be married under the law and get the legal rights that flow from that). It's actually the opposite, as religious institutions are imposing their definition of marriage on civil marriages.
