I have been wondering about ways that the Saints may be able to get Hill involved on the offense because of his superb speed and athleticism. To this point, no one really knows if he could be a viable pass-catcher, but there may another way...

The jet sweep.

Line Hill up in the slot or out wide and bring him in motion across the formation. The Saints could then hand it off to the RB after faking the jet sweep, hand it off to Hill on the jet sweep, or have Hill stay behind the LOS and throw the ball.

All 3 options have the potential for success.

Teams will honor Hill’s speed on the fake sweep, which could put a LB or S out of position for the RB run in the opposite direction.

If they do not, hand the ball to Hill and if he gets the edge, it’s trouble for the defense.

If the defense gets overly aggressive, Hill can throw the ball better than any RB or WR in the game on the option pass.

I've always thought he would a good h-back type, with the added threat of being able to run on sweeps and pitches and he can throw downfield so the double pass is a possibility too. He's big enough to throw the occasional block too.

Would love to see a backfield with Kamara and Hill, with MT on one side and Ginn on the other. So many options.

I do think SP is going to get Hill involved in the offense at some point, it would be a waste if he didn't and it's not like we have a ton of great WRs that he would be taking touches away from.

I’m not sure how feasible but I’d like to know if TE/Slot is something he could do.

I’d like more of the fake punt up man we saw in preseason.
Could maybe steal a possession.

He looked comfortable catching kickoffs, so it’s not like he doesn’t have the coordination to catch. The guy is an athlete through and through.

I’m not saying get him in there all of the time, but a jet sweep package to run from time to time might be a great change of pace.

heck just having him as a decoy out there will cause the defense to hesitate, they have to respect his speed. i bet he could catch well, he seemed fluid in catching those kickoffs.. fake sweep or just running deep would take the CB and likely a S with him..

look at when they put him in under center. it caused a wasted timeout, that can be really helpful in the second half. less timeouts at the end of the game...

I imagine having him be an offensive gadget guy is his ultimate role on this team.

They really like him, he can be a playmaker and he isn't good enough to be a starting quarterback. They will find ways to get him involved.

i think SP is looking forward to having a good lead late, so he can get Taysom in and run enough looks and then he can rin the 3rd most promising play from that formation
that Dcoordinators will anticipate that play on tape, but SP will run the okey-doke

Exactly! Put him out there as a decoy until defenses stop respecting him as a decoy... then give him a jet sweep or a reverse and get that respect right back!

Make defenses nervous... unsettled... and unsure. A wasted time-out is huge in the 2nd half... especially with the way we play defense late. ?

I think we're overdue to see some of this. Obviously they put him out there to feature an RPO in goal line package. I think he could be an effective threat on end arounds, wildcat, and trick plays that threaten the defense with his passing. Putting him out there with Kamara only ups the MPH on the offense threat...

His position is "Athlete." I never see that used in the NFL, more of a college thing I think, but that's what he is. He's too good of a weapon to keep off the field. Even if the guy never threatens Brees or Bridgewater for being the bonafide QB... he's simply too useful and exciting to keep on the bench. I'm glad that he's got the attitude to get out there and do whatever it takes to make plays and I'm glad that Coach Payton is honoring that.
