I can only imagine how much this sucks for all you fans of the Saints. I would react the same as many of you. Goodell is probably more ticked off about being stonewalled and lied to than player safety in my opinion. I do not think there is anything the Saints can do because coach contracts when signed state that you have to abide by the Commissioners rulings, end of story. Appeal would probably be no good either.

I doubt there is anyway to soften the blow, but at least the Saints have a great coaching staff and eventually Brees who just got more leverage in negotiations. He could probably call the plays himself by now. I still expect the Saints to be a contender and have organized themselves before the start of the season. At least your GM will still get to run the draft as well.

Good Luck to all of you, never like to see fans be punished for team mistakes.

Although the penalties keep raining down on the Saints, I still think they can succeed too. I'll never feel like anybody should just take the punishment the commissioner deals out without a fight.

Also, if Benson actually sent out a memo to put an end to bounties, then why did the saints as a organization receive penalties. taking draft picks affects Benson organization, coaches and players can step away.

I agree that this punishment went down for two reasons: Goodell had his feelings hurt & Goodell was covering his arse. And those are two unjustified reasons for the excessive punishments. The Saints are going to lawyer up.

As for Benson I guess he is being punished for lack of control? Not sure. Though I am one who thinks the penalties are harsh

We'll have a chance if, and only if the defensive players don't see suspensions. If we have to play 4 games with backups on D, it will be a long season.

You nailed it, the NFL doesn't give a hoot about player safety. If you lie to Dad though, look out!
