N/S Giants benched Daniel Jones [Update: Giants released Daniel Jones at his request] [Daniel Jones signs with Vikings] (4 Viewers)

LOL @ letting Barkley walk for cheap money but hamstringing your organization to this guy for stupid money.

Remind me next time we complain about Loomis...............yikes.
It seems they really chose Brian Burns over Barkley since they had plenty of capacity to sign Barkley otherwise. At the same time, they helped to end the narrative that any RB is as good as another. RB's are starting to get paid again, and I think that trend continues.

Coincidentally, the Giants drafted their current starting RB with the fifth round pick acquired in that trade for Burns, but Tracy isn't (and will never be) Barkley.

If he wants to have a decent career as a QB, he can. He has the physical tools to make it happen with the right coaches and overall team around him. If Sam Darnold and Geno Smith can experience the resurgence that they have, then so can Jones in the right situation. Dude is not garbage or hopeless, but he has to work much harder if given another shot.

He is in the same position Carr was in with the Raiders a couple of years ago. He will be a FA next year and will likely sign with a QB desperate team (Panther's?)
you can't put Jones and Carr in the same category. i think Carrs worse season was still better than Jones best season.
I don't think Joes will get a contract like Carr got, not even close.

Nah man! We all get football decisions. How do you know the family like that? LOL.
His mom has been a customer of mine for over 13 years now (no I won’t disclose what I do). I see her every week. She will bring Daniel in pretty much every offseason, so I can talk to him. First met him when he was freshman in college. He’s a real solid guy and I will always root for him to do well.

Also, Will Grier and Drake Maye’s families are customers as well.
Side fact: I spoke to Will’s family the day he was drafted (before the draft started). They knew exactly what team was going to draft him. That’s wild. They knew like 50+ picks in advance. I thought they were wishful thinking, but it actually happened.

I'm in the boat of not thinking Daniel Jones is that bad but over the past few seasons, he looks to have that 1000 yard stare. I think letting go a Barkley was stupid and their season would probably look better but it seems like he has gotten a little "gun shy" over the past few seasons. I wonder what happened.

He’s actually not that bad. He belongs in the NFL, but at a certain capacity. What capacity? That’s a million dollar question. No one will know unless he’s actually in a good situation. There have been way worse 1st rd QBs than him. He’s won a playoff game as an underdog, with almost no weapons, so he has something. Between his neck injury and not really knowing his future on the team, has affected him to a degree

Joe Schoen, Giants GM, is literally on film saying "We're not paying him $40m a year to hand the ball off" about Jones and Barkley. Yikes.

Daniel Jones out of New York and to a smaller market like Carolina or a Tennessee Titans may emerge as a real threat in the NFL.

Take less money and allow a small market team to give him an Oline and with a running game and receivers. Dude might just surprise some folks.
His mom would love for him to go to the Panthers, but that’s for selfish reasons (he would be local in Charlotte). She honestly doesn’t like having to travel to NY for games.

he could possibly, but he's definetly gonna have to take a small contract. I don't think he's gonna get a $25M a year contract. he'llhave to do like Russel Wilson and sign for low to prove himself, or maybe even the Jameis Winston Route and sign for low as a back up for a year... i just don't see teams bidding for him...

Daniel Jones has a lot of talent. I just want to see if the young man leaves a big market and goes to a small market if he all of a sudden becomes a real good QB.

Big markets take special types. Eli was perfect for New York because he can block the noise. Some people have that ability to just do their thing and block out distractions. Others can't and I think thats where Daniel Struggles.

I agree he will have to lower his pay. Somebody will make a play on him. Backup pay may do him good as a lot of pressure will be off him. Could do him a lot of good.

I like DJ and want to see him do well.

Geesh…paid him all that money not too long ago, and got burned badly.

Tommy Devito is a baller. Needs work, but a very nice prospect for them.
They should have chosen Barkley over Jones, but I think they felt we drafted him trap; thinking Daboll could fix him.

I don't blamer her. Their stadium is a PITA to get to especially if you're from out of town.

ETA - I live 50 miles away from that stadium and I've been there once and my God I won't drive there again if I can help it.
