I'm not sure what words Rizzi could use to motivate his team to play well enough to beat a far superior team in a hostile environment with nothing left to play for but a paycheck. Frankly I think it would be quite an achievement if the Saints could fly home on Tuesday morning after beating the point spread against Green Bay.

Gamblers really don’t feel good about a team with a losing record and a lot of injuries, starting a rookie QB, going on the road at Lambeau on MNF. Not at all surprising.

I don’t feel great about it either. Hoping to be entertained and pleasantly surprised. I wouldn’t wager my money one way or the other.

Green Bay is the example of a young team from drafting well. They will use us as a speed bump. Get ready to see how the corners are. And< Green Bay drafted their Oline, while we were picking Ruiz, Saldivieri and Penning. We traded up for Saldivieri so he cost more than one pick. I hope we re improving, but Ruiz has been getting ppl killed...
I think we drafted ok, but coaching is running these players out of the game. I remember when Vitt was the LB coach and we drafted LB after LB and they werent worth a sheet and then we got Nolan here and all of the sudden our LB were ok, Vitt sucked and so does DA.

I like the lotto ticket analogy of the draft. The more tickets the better. But then again., sometimes it takes a little luck or divine intervention to score a superstar no matter how many picks u have

Big favorites like this in the NFL cover more than they don't, especially over the last 5 years. Would not surprise me if we stay close, would not surprise me if we got shut out.

The Packers had 11 picks in the 2024 draft, 13 picks in 2023, 11 picks in 2022, 9 picks in 2021, and 9 picks in 2020. 53 picks over the last 5 years.

The Saints in that same time frame have made 29 picks.

They're drafting almost double the amount of players the Saints do every year.

The Eagles have drafted 40 players over the last five years, the Ravens have drafted 44 players over the last five years.

I've said it before, I'll say it again and again, the draft is just buying raffle tickets and the more tickets you have the better your odds of getting players worth keeping. All these teams everyone worships as being great drafters always show up to the draft with a plethora of picks while we're over here shocked if the Saints finish a draft with the same picks they started with and didn't give up any future picks.

Contract structure contributes to this. Loomis adding void years forces a release meaning no comp pick for that player. Trading up or giving away late picks unnecessarily also hurts.

By DVOA, the Packers are 3rd on offense and 8th on defense, keeping in mind that they are top 3 on offense despite Jordan Love missing a couple of games. At the same time, the Saints are 19th on offense and 20th on defense (and even worse when weighted for more recent games). The evidence is there to predict a bad loss on Monday.

Overall, the Packers are 3rd in team DVOA. We are 0-3 against teams that are currently top ten in team DVOA, and we were outscored 74-35 in those games (average differential of 13 points). Not looking good.

It's not rocket science but for some reason this point falls on deaf ears with our leadership. This applies in so many situations outside of football*, the fact that our front office doesn't get it INFURIATES ME. Increase success by decreasing variance. Take less big swings, think long term, and don't think you are smarter than

*Except baseball, where it's now ok to hit .220 as long as you smash lol.
