Hargrove discussion <<MERGED THREADS>> (1 Viewer)

I don't believe for one second that Hargrove is the "snitch". I also think it's irresponsible to say that he is. He very well may have been pressured to confirm some of the bounty activities though. I'm not sure we will ever know definitively who the "snitch" is, so let's not be a part of all the finger pointing going around. What's done is done. Time to move on.

I am not wasting anger on any former players. Why would they turn themselves in? Hargrove didn't have an axe to grind with the Saints when the investigation was supposed to have started. Goodell probably got it somewhere else and cornered a non star like Hargrove. Fujita went to NYC an explained things too. Goodell had it in for us when he decided to hold off two years on any action. Still no proof of anything, even after all the suspensions have been handed out. What's he waiting on had anything legit?

I don't think Hargrove was the snitch, he was just one of the ones who admitted to it.

What would you do if the only thing you've ever been any good at is about to be taken from you...again?

Anthony was put in a tuff spot.

I don't necessarily agree with that.

OK, so the NFL comes to him in 2010 and he doesn't snitch because he's still on the team. Then in 2011, when he's on the Seahawks, they come to him again and he recants his earlier statement and signs a statement saying that it went on and he was a part of it.

How is he not a snitch?

The NFL keeps using that word 'bounty'. I don't think it means what they think it means. Actually, I do think they know what it means, they're just using the word loosely to make this seem worse than it really was.

And are we supposed to believe the NFL here that he signed a letter saying a 'bounty' program existed? More likely he signed a letter saying a performance pool existed... not a 'bounty' program.

And they certainly have Tom Jackson fooled. He was already on ESPN saying that every other team had a performance pool program, but that it's different from the Saints' program. Really? And you know this because you've seen the evidence or intent to injure or because you believe the NFL?

Depends, if the NFL comes to him in 2010 and he doesn't snitch because he is still on the team, then a year later the NFL comes back to him and says that they already know it took place and have confirmation, but now they are just looking for more. Is he still a snitch? I don't think so. Now he's just saving his butt, which is the right thing to do.

what had been confusing me is how to reconcile the hargrove described in today's NFL release (which says he confirmed the bounty system existed) with the hargrove who issued his statement in march:

Ex-Saint Anthony Hargrove: No bounty for hit on Brett Favre - NFL - SI.com

but i think the two are in accord. a bounty system existed but it was just bluster. none of the players took in seriously. hence the disconnect from what we heard gregg williams saying on that recording, for example, and what actually happened on the field.

Did the NFL write the 'confession' that Hargrove signed? Is this the NFL manufacturing evidence again?
