On Mike & Mike this morning he said that the good thing for us is that this happend now. Real football doesnt kick off till September. He said remember last year with the lockout all the teams with new coachs and rookie players everyone was forecasting gloom and dome for them, because of the lack of OTA's an training camp. It didnt effect San Fran to much Cam Newton, or Andy Dalton. We have plenty of time to get our ducks in a row and set up some kind of organizational structure.
Well that is my silver lining that I will hold on to for the up coming season

Before the draft too for whatever that's worth.

Aside from finding a HC right now, we should be ok as far as finding replacements for those that will be suspended for a lengthy amount of time.

It is a good point. When Jimmy Graham smashed into Payton last year, they had no plan in place. I'm not sure of the timing of these suspensions, though. Does Payton's start immediately? I suppose there will be appeals, and that could the delay the beginning of the year's suspension.

Payton's starts April 1. Loomis's doesn't start until the end of preseason.

Any appeal would be resolved quickly I would imagine.

Herm also made a good point when he said, "You play. To win. The game."

Don't think it is out of the realm of possibilities that the Payton suspension was a calculated move by him so that he can transition into Dallas as their new coach.

The NFL has so much going on behind the scenes that we, the fans, don't hear about. I wouldn't rule out that on Payton's trip to NY (to meet with Goodell) he proposed a "Harakiri scenario" to the commish where he sits out this year. If the Saints have a great year with an interim coach, Saints fans won't be too upset if the interim coach is retained and Payton walks.

I sincerely hope you're just trolling because if you believe this crap you just typed, well, I've got nothing. Seek help.

I made the same argument last night in a thread called "The timing for this is actually not bad."

Trolling? I'm a Saints fan, Brother. If you take everything that the NFL does at face value you need to seek help.

Why would Peyton have signed a contract extension, I think your reaching on that conspiracy theory.

It will be interesting though if the Saints name Spagnuolo the interim head coach and he takes us to the Playoffs or even wins us another Championship, what Benson will do about SP after the season. Just sayin.

I seriously think this needs Congressional oversight, and I hate the thought of involving the government. If you look back to Spygate, Senator Arlen Specter demanded a meeting with Goodell to try and sort that crap out...and they weren't getting the death-penalty like we are.

This whole balance of power stinks.

Payton's flirtations with Jerry Jones and Dallas while head coach of the Saints have been fairly obvious, the only down side for Payton would be having Tony Joe Hobert as his QB instead of Drew Brees. We may very well see Payton resign "so that the team can move on", "the healing process to begin" or of course "to spend more time with his family". Anyone who thinks that Sean Payton would rather be a head coach in 'Big D' as opposed to the city that time forgot, is fooling themselves. And it could be even worse: let's say Drew plays a one year deal under the tag and is up for free agency again next year?? Anyone thinks its impossible that both Payton AND Brees could end up in Dallas has not been paying attention to the way today's NFL operates.
