House flooded (2 Viewers)

just on the phone w/ a friend in industry who was just there not 45 days ago visiting an agency who STILL had 2 windows covered by tarp because they simply cant get someone to replace/supply. Its unreal what they have to deal with and NOW entering hurricane season on the heels of the last 3 weeks of monsoons.
The only reason we weren’t further along with the rebuild process and almost done was because we have been waiting on two interior doors to move alone to painting and floors.

This was in our yard about 30 minutes before the gully behind the house over flowed and flooded the house

They were trying to deliver those damn doors in a monsoon after waiting two months for them 🤣🤣

I walked in the house Wednesdayto find this:

They walked in and set them down in the house. I guess when you have a job to do you do it 🤣

Some good news today. We talked with the lady from the parish and she said that the Laura Grant that we applied for covers 100% of the cost for whatever they decide to do. So we won't have to worry about coming up with between 10-25% like some people have had to do.

Just wanted to update you guys that have been paying attention to this thread. Finally finished up the house and started moving stuff in an staying in it the last week or so.

Which was good because we had to move the camper that we have lived in for the past year to Houston to be closer to Children's Texas Hospital as my step-daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor last week.

She had surgery today to remove the tumor and they got a majority of it. We are waiting on the biopsy to see what the next step is for the bit they were not able to remove.

Damn man. That's great y'all are finished with the house - hopefully the tumor will be a short episode and y'all can get back to moving in.

glad to hear the home coming along and wishing y'all all the strength and for good news.

Step-daughter was released from the hospital today. She will have more rehab to do here in LC to regain the full use of her left hand which just happens to be her dominate hand. Everything else is working well though and she will be able to start back to school Thursday.

Thank you guys for all of the well wishes and prayers, they are very much appreciated :)

So. Guess what happened today.

Was hanging out at the house when the weather started getting rough.
So I was at the front door looking out and the wind started picking up and then I saw some branches flying through the air with some other debris and was like ok maybe it’s time to head to the center of the house.

Then I heard some glass breaking and stuff hitting the house and it sounded like the roof was about to come off over here and I was yelling at the dogs to follow me but they just looked at me like “huh?” The cat ran with me though. But by then I think the worst was over. So yeah a tornado passed two houses down. The neighbor lost part of his roof. Luckily mine stayed on. We called the insurance for them to come check it out and see though. There is some siding damaged and a window broken but everything seems ok. The water dam we purchased that we were hoping to help keep any possible flood waters away until the house is lifted was torn in several places. So that’s toast. But I can’t complain. This was a street over

Anywho. Yeah. Floods. Ice storm. Hurricanes. Brain tumor. Tornado. I’m just sitting hear waiting on the earthquake to get the full disaster bingo now.

Jeez :covri: y'all have had enough.

I'm a not a lawyer on insurance person, etc, but I think LA law permits only one deductible wind claim per season - so any damage should basically be on the same claim. Don't get screwed - but also don't hire me to represent you. :mwink:
