House flooded (2 Viewers)

All the time now. Canada sounds nice. Cold but I’m guessing hurricanes and tornados don’t frequent there.
Hurricanes,no. But consult this map and try for areas outside the concentration of dots.

Oh man CK, I’m so sorry. I had roof damage from Ida as well and to be honest, until I saw this thread pop back up I hadn’t even thought about what the weather was doing to my place (I’m at work). Now I’m pretty nervous about going home tonight

So. Guess what happened today.

Was hanging out at the house when the weather started getting rough.
So I was at the front door looking out and the wind started picking up and then I saw some branches flying through the air with some other debris and was like ok maybe it’s time to head to the center of the house.

Then I heard some glass breaking and stuff hitting the house and it sounded like the roof was about to come off over here and I was yelling at the dogs to follow me but they just looked at me like “huh?” The cat ran with me though. But by then I think the worst was over. So yeah a tornado passed two houses down. The neighbor lost part of his roof. Luckily mine stayed on. We called the insurance for them to come check it out and see though. There is some siding damaged and a window broken but everything seems ok. The water dam we purchased that we were hoping to help keep any possible flood waters away until the house is lifted was torn in several places. So that’s toast. But I can’t complain. This was a street over

Anywho. Yeah. Floods. Ice storm. Hurricanes. Brain tumor. Tornado. I’m just sitting hear waiting on the earthquake to get the full disaster bingo now.

Damn dude.

I don’t often say this but it might be time for church.

My flood insurance doubled. Bout to drop it. Hope I don't regret that decision.

Flood insurance has easily been my best investment. It was around $500 a year during the initial flood but it's up to around $900 now. They have paid out a total of around $342K for the previous 3 floods and this elevation is another $281K. Not a bad return on investment :hihi:

PLEASE listen.

My best friend of 40 years lived in Walker LA.

Called me one afternoon as i was driving home to ask about what he can do to lower his flood renewal. I said NOTHING. Pretend you didnt see it. Take the small increase in Escrow and move on.

HE didnt listen to me- removed his content coverage.

3 days later he had 4 ft of water in his home.

I know its a lot right now- home insurance costs up, flood rates up etc etc. But remember where you reside and that 1 inch of water in your home can be devastating.

who doin the lift?

whomever it is, make sure they have Riggers or "Care Custody and Control" coverage by endorsement or stand alone coverage - not just General Liability ( as a GL policy excludes CCC )

We ended up going with https://pattersonshoring.com/about/ we had three different contractors come and look at the house and he really just blew us away with his presentation and the stuff that his team has worked on.
