First off did I evin spel compensatory rite???

That being said, how does the league justify what extra picks a team gets if any?? Is it based on the quality players they lose during FA??? Or is it a more of a formula based on losses and how that player does with the new team etc???

With Bentley out for the year, the only thing they can use to judge it is his contract. I would guess probably a 6th-round pick for LeCharles, maybe a 5th since it was a huge contract but no performance is going to hurt.

As for Howard, he has 3 sacks, 4 tackles for loss, and 2 forced fumbles (3rd in sacks, but will finish at least 2nd since Jevon Kearse is 2nd, 1st in tackles for loss, and tied-2nd for forced fumbles). I think we will get at least a 5th, probably a 4th for Darren because he's doing well and signed a good contract.

If you have lost more than you gained, then the formula for which rounds and how many picks comes into play.

I don't think we'll be getting any extra picks in '07.

Does that count for guys like Billy Miller, who is signed during the season since he's technically a free agent or just during the designated offseason signing periods?

That's kinda of a dumb way to go about it anyway. So basically I could sign 4 STers and lose 1 big-time QB and get no comps.

Say the Chargers lose Drew Brees in Free Agency and sign Joe Schmoe as their backup to Rivers. It is a one for one swap but there is a huge drop off in quality.

They don't. They only count for free agents who leave voluntarily (although not all do so).

Yes there are certain players that are considered "compensatory free agents". Drew Brees will be a compensatory free agent, Billy Miller will not.
