How did I never watch Kamara in college? (2 Viewers)

Kamara is a race car, we must stop using him like a dump truck. It pains me to see him get beaten up.

I think with the ascension if Murray, we will go back to the Ingram-Kamara paradigm. I hope!

Because for some reason Butch Jones made him the backup behind Jalen Hurd.

In fairness, Hurd was a good back, too. But Kamara was special.

As a Big Orange Fan I agree, Kamara was special, Hurd was the banger.

to be fair to his college coaches, 32 teams didn't see an every down back either including us. And that is a good thing because if we had, either Lattimore or Ramczyk likely wouldn't even be on this team.
That had a lot to do with his college coaches vastly underutilizing him. It's kind of mind boggling.

On Draft night, the draft weenies knew about him, and apparently some thought he was special. When a team came up that may need a RB, it was Kamara, Kamara, Kamara, all night. I like to take RB's in round 6, 7, and UDFA, so I would say NO! I guess that's why I'm a fan and not a coach.

What a draft!!!!

Top corner ✅
Top tackle ✅
Top safety ✅
Top RB ✅
Really good LB (when healthy) ✅
Really good DE ✅

Rumor was that Jones did try to come around but it too little, too late.

As a Vols fan, I was elated when we drafted Kamara, I thought he would go higher.

As others have mentioned, he was stuck behind Hurd on the depth chart for a long time. Hurd was very talented in his own right, but here's the play where I realized that he should be replaced (the following week was the OP's TN vs. TA&M game):

That's one of the reason's he went kinda under the radar, didn't play a whole lot at Tennesee, thank God our scouts and SP realised his potential.

Picks up on page 26. It's fun to look back.

That is fantastic.

This was my favorite comment, hahaha.

Just looked at Mike D's write-up in his draft guide on Kamara:

"Has an extra gear in space and he just flies up the seam. Outstanding edge rusher."

So there - we have our edge rusher.

It's pretty scary to think about. When instances like Kamara come up, I can't help but think about all the other wasted, unused, or misused talent in College that never get to exhibit their play. And, without an offensive guru like Payton picking him up who's to say he shines if he was drafted by another team?

It's just mind boggling how much luck goes into being a superstar athlete. Lots of things you have control over, but so much that you don't have control over. I mean, Payton didn't even go to Tenn to scout Kamara, he just so happened to notice him in a workout.

It makes you wonder if Curtis Samuel would have been better elsewhere. I suspect that he would.

Nah - he's more like a Rally Fighter.
