Hypothetical: If Moore said no, then what? (3 Viewers)

The disappointment of hiring Rizzi and coming to the realization that this franchise has hit rock bottom

I'd think MM would still be an option. I imagine Brady dropped out because Moore was in the lead. He may have moved on by now though, dunno. Some people here like Kafka. Few other options. No clue who would be best.

Pretty clear he already said yes though.

With McCarthy and others pulling out, I think its obvious an agreement has been made. If he pulls a Liam Coen on us then thats a real bad look all around. I don't think the Saints would have waited to interview McCarthy till the end of the week if it wasn't just to entertain the idea. If Moore said no on Monday, I think the Saints would be way more urgent in interviewing and throwing a bounty at McCarthy and not wait 4 days to do it.

If Moore does say no, then its throw everything you can at McCarthy to change his mind, or ride with Rizzi and take a hard look internally at why we had to settle with that.
Good post.

I'll add that it is likely, imo, that the reason that Brady dropped out was due to sharing an agent with Moore. I believe the agent was aware of the Saints heavy interest in Moore and recommended that Brady should drop out as he was unlikely to beat out Moore. Again this is opinion based on at least a modicum of logic and a small amout of ear-to-the-ground.

It has probably been between Moore and Glenn right from the start regardless of media and/or fan prognostications.

I would agree with you, but it has happened before to other teams, we've seen it.
Yep, it happened in 2018 with the Colts and Josh McDaniels. They had agreed to terms, but after the Super Bowl McDaniels decided he wanted to stay in New England and backed out. The Colts pivoted to Frank Reich, who had been the OC for Philadelphia, who had just beaten New England in the Super Bowl.

If the Eagles win and he's feeling a little attached to the team, he could decide to run it back with them. Or if they lose he could do as Ben Johnson did last year and feel like he needed to give it one more shot. Nobody really know until they are in that moment. If that happens then it will look very bad for the team even if it has nothing to do with them because it would have been like the 4th guy to pass on the job. But we would still have a coach with Kafka, Weaver or as a very last resort, Rizzi.

It would be very underwhelming...

It will leak out in the media if he's truly the guy.
Yes and no.

The media that it would leak to are also the media who know they can’t say anything. It’s such a weird unwritten rule that nothing can take away from the game for the next two weeks but IIWII

Based on articles and posts here you would've thought Brady was clearly the favorite over Moore. He dropped out before the AFC title game so we didn't have that bad performance to consider. So you might be right that Moore was the favorite all along and we lucked out that his team is still playing and Brady's isn't.

I’m not sure there’s been any concrete info to suggest Brady was a preference. Or Kingsbury.

Just like McCarthy, they could’ve easily seen this thing going elsewhere so they just pulled out.

Anything could happen, but Moore is in a much different position from McDaniels. McDaniels was trying to get his 2nd HC job which he knew would be his last chance as a HC so he has to be even more cautious about what he is going to take. And the consequence for McDaniels was that he had to wait 4 years for another HC job and only the Raiders would hire him.

Moore has been on the interview circuit for a few years and is trying to get his first offer. If he verbally accepted and then changed his mind, it would be a bad look for him. Or to use the popular phrase, changing his mind after verbally agreeing to take the job would be very bad optics for Moore and could hurt him while looking for other HC jobs in the future.

Now, if he hasn't verbally accepted, all bets are off.
