I guess I need to stop eating red meat. (2 Viewers)

I'm saying you and me, and several other individuals in this thread and around the world, are falling victim to logical fallacies and it hinders meaningful progress. It's one reason we're all dying of diabetes and the Earth's surface temperature has increased 2 degrees since pre-industrial times. If you'd like a "reason" why I'm pointing this out, its' because I'd like to encourage an attempt to review of these things on the merits and not dismiss out of hand based on our predispositions or in-group biases so that we can stop killing ourselves and maintain a habitable world for our children.
I am reading the things that are being posted in this thread and asked you to stop speaking in rhetoric, which you now have. I present that as prima facie evidence that I AM trying to review things on the merits.

Yeah people trash fast food but sit down resteraunts are no better and frequently worse. Went to one yesterday that listed its calories on the menu (most do not) and every single burger and most entrees were at least 1000 calories, add fries and it’s another 500. At say McDs or Wendy’s it’s actually easier to stay under 1000. 1500 is over half the calorie budget for everyone that isn’t a pro athlete or works something like construction. And alot people are just not going to have enough control/forethought to eat the other two meals small (500 or less) and not snack In between, or alternatively just not finish the full meal.
I don't care about calories. I care about knowing what I'm really eating.

Accuses everyone of making logical fallacies. Backs up his point solely with rhetoric and strawman arguments. Seems legit

You know how hard it is to find Tomato sauce or Spagetti sauce without added sugar?
I do Keto on and off, and let me tell you, most stores do not have this option.
I’ve always made my own. It’s not hard. Store bought sauces never sat right with me. Can of tomato paste, big can of crushed tomatoes, an onion and a few garlic cloves. About a tablespoon of olive oil, sautée onions and garlic on medium heat. Brown, don’t burn. Best color is more gold, Add tomato paste and cook until it its well mixed and broken down. Add crushed tomatoes and half of the can of water. Stir it all up and If you have any meat or vegetable,(meatballs, eggplant, etc.) add this now. Wait until you get a gentle boil, then turn down heat to a simmer. Add a layer of basil or oregano, but dont stir. Simmer for at least 20 minutes.

Typically you do add something sweet Ike sugar because the sauce is bitter. But you can use sugar substitute. Once you go fresh sauce, you won’t go back.

From the linked article in the OP:

The study doesn’t prove that eating red meat causes type 2 diabetes, said Gunter Kuhnle,

... so there is that. One would need to look at the entirety of the food intake and the levels of activity/inactivity to make a valid correlation.

My home State of Yucatán habitually ranks #1 in diabetes in MX. The main meats Yucatecos prefer are pork, turkey, seafood, and chicken.

Compared to the US, generally how does Mexico stack up diabetes wise?

I think the cattle industry is responsible for a large percentage of greenhouse gases. Saying things are better for the environment or worse for the environment is complicated because it's so multifaceted.
Yes
Boiling down arguments to whether it’s better to get stabbed in the right or left kidney misses the point that it’s better to not get stabbed at all
We have a systemic production/consumption problem that will only be fixed by addressing the whole system

"WE ARE # UNO!" :hihi:

I don't really know how they stack up, but I know the Yucatecan diet, and it is delicious, but it is hea-vy. The main culprit, I think, we cook everything in lard. Obesity and diabetes go hand in hand in Yucatán. And not only in adults: there is a significant incidence of diabetes among kids between the ages of 10 and 14, and just about all of them (kids with diabetes) are overweight.

A lot of diabetes cases go undiagnosed as well, because obese people don't consider obesity a health issue, since "it doesn't hurt" (and I put that in quotes, because that's a common answer in polls) so they don't go to the doctor for preventing care.

But red meat is definitely not the issue.

Canned tomatoes are number one on the list of the "seven foods that should never cross your lips" from Prevention magazine.

1. Canned tomatoes

Fredrick Vom Saal, PhD, an endocrinologist at the University of Missouri who studies bisphenol-A, gives us the scoop:

The problem: The resin linings of tin cans contain bisphenol-A, a synthetic estrogen that has been linked to ailments ranging from reproductive problems to heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. Unfortunately, acidity (a prominent characteristic of tomatoes) causes BPA to leach into your food. Studies show that the BPA in most people's body exceeds the amount that suppresses sperm production or causes chromosomal damage to the eggs of animals. "You can get 50 mcg of BPA per liter out of a tomato can, and that's a level that is going to impact people, particularly the young," says vom Saal. "I won't go near canned tomatoes."

The solution: Choose tomatoes in glass bottles (which do not need resin linings), such as the brands Bionaturae and Coluccio. You can also get several types in Tetra Pak boxes, like Trader Joe's and Pomi.
