It feels like deductive reasoning in the off season by the media to me. Expensive, old and injured must mean they're going to cut him. Despite that it doesn't really help the team this year much and not at all in March when they need to get under. Maybe it'll happen, but it seems unlikely to be a first move they make when thinking about cap compliance.Still nothing but speculation to get clicks. As far as I know he doesn’t even say he got it from “sources”.
Taysom doesn't even make sense from a June 1 designation standpoint because he has no guaranteed money remaining to vest. There is no immediate savings in cash or cap and they can simply wait until June 1 to cut him and get the same effect. He's not going to sign another contract while injured, so it wouldn't be for him either.
My hope is that they convince him to take a huge pay cut to remain with the team and have the potential to play late in the year if he recovers well. He'll be a free agent next year regardless.
