Ian Rapoport: Saints to make a decision on Taysom Hill; hard to imagine Hill returning [T.Hill is turning 35 w/ 18M cap hit & ACL recovery] (20 Viewers)

Agree with all of this with the exception of Moreau. He just had knee surgery and isn't likely to be a huge factor until mid season. We definitely need to add some guys to that position group, maybe more there than RB or WR.
It isn't that unusual for a player to come back from ACL surgery in 6 - 8 months now.

His recovery from cancer was nothing short of amazing!

I get that, but he injured the knee on January 5th and I know they wait until the swelling goes down before they do the surgery. I'm only assuming he's even had the surgery already, he may not have. Either way, that's going to put him out of training camp most likely. But I hope he's back earlier. We're going to need him.

I had 2 ACL surgeries in the 1980's & my daughter who played DI basketball through college had 2 ACL surgeries in the last 10 years.
They don't wait around now like they use too. In a week or two they repair the ACL either by using a hamstring repair or through a patella repair.
You can come back from a hamstring ACL repair in 6 months. That is what my daughter did between her freshman & sophomore year of high school.
A patella repair takes 8 months to a year. In my opinion the patella repair is stronger. That is what she did for her 2nd repair...

Most athletes do the hamstring repair because of the recovery time.

Super sad to see him go. Always a Saint in my mind. Won so many games for us especially vs. Falcons. But coming off of a bad injury, will be 35 by the time the season starts, won't be ready to play until November-ish, and saves us 10 million....it was a no brainer. I know a guy in Denver who will be all over him once he's healthy.
Where is there any official report the Hill has been released. The article in the OP is just a typical click bait piece.

I haven’t even thought of him playing Taysom as a full time quarterback, but you can certainly do worse than use Taysom in the Philly “tush push” situation better than you can Derek Carr.

I just think with so few weapons on this team, jettisoning one of your most versatile ones probably makes as much sense as smoking crack with the Mayor of DC.
The tush push with a 35yr old coming off an ACL tear makes as much sense as smoking crack with the Mayor of DC. And I doubt he’ll be the weapon he was prior to the ACL.

I don’t know if it’s at the level of smoking crack with the mayor of DC, but using a mobile quarterback to run a play that requires mobile quarterback seems like an ideal choice.

But that’s just me thinking outside of the box.

It's really just what Russini mentioned, but couple that with reports that Loomis is willing to give Moore a grace period, seems to suggest that Carr isn't likely in Moore's long term plans. If for no other reason, he's 34 and only has 2 more years on his contract.

Of course, that doesn't mean Carr won't be here this year and it doesn't mean Moore can't change his mind or keep Carr until he does find the solution. Moore has not said anything publicly and I suspect he won't say anything other than I am evaluating the QB position and/or what he said about Carr previously which is something like he has done a lot of good things in the NFL.

As far as Russini's credibility. I tend to think she is credible and a lot of the noise probably has to do with general hostility to the media more than anything else but I, like you, don't really follow her closely.
I disagree as far as Russini is concerned, She said that KM did not like the QB room and that would be the reason he turned down the job, KM said he wanted the job from the get go , making Russini's scuttlebutt comment off base

Still nothing but speculation to get clicks. As far as I know he doesn’t even say he got it from “sources”.
I mean technically speaking no one can be officially released yet. However the indication doesn’t look good.

We can get under the cap without cutting anyone but Ramczyk and without extending anyone. That entire thing is the most blown out of proportion thing we’ve ever discussed on this site. Even that week with Walter Thomas and the back flip.

If I’m an offensive coach and I can use Taysom to help my first season, I’m taking that opportunity. Taysom has had like 2353 ACL tears and that guy hasn’t missed a beat when back healthy.
"the most blown out of proportion thing we’ve ever discussed on this site" that debate could be a thread of its own!
