If Carr plays Sunday this could be the turning point for the O-line (1 Viewer)

2023 vs Packers 3rd downs with Carr:

3rd & 9 sack/punt
3rd & 6 short pass left TJJ converted
3rd & 5 TD Graham
3rd & 3 short pass Olave converted
3rd & 9 sack/punt
3rd & 1 pass complete no gain got it on 4th
3rd & 7 incomplete/field goal
3rd & 9 sack/punt Carr injury

I think it's safe to say that we need to get more production on 1st and 2nd down.
BINGO x's 1000

Maybe unpopular opinion, cause I am seeing the cool kids find it cool to blame Pete šŸ˜Ž, but our talent on the O-line did not forget how to play after 6 yrs (+/-) of primary/secondary school ball, 4yrs of college ball, & a few years of professional football. This is not a technique error or got beat 1v1, that happens & will continue throughout every ball players career, you can't statistically win every rep.

But that ain't what we are witnessing. You are watching 5 guys, sometimes 6 getting obliterated at the snap of the ball. Some of these guys have been best at their position in the league, others are highly drafted, highly skilled. But yet you see a synchronized failure across the entire front. That to me screams scheme (say that 3 times fast)! This looks to my eyes like a continuation of the same o-line issues from last year.

My needle points to Marrone instead of Pete here, he came in last year & our line has been discombobulated ever since. Not saying it is all Marrone, but my opinion is that he is the o-line issue. I just hope we get it figured out soon, or switch what needs to be changed in order to correct it soon.

Just my opinion, but I don't feel like one group of professionals forgot how to perform collectively all at the same time.

Who Dat.

Yeah Iā€™ve been hoping that Sunday was a wake up call, come to Jesus moment for them. But deep down I'm still pretty pessimistic as it seems to be an issue with the entire OL, so I fear itā€™s a coaching and scheme issue and it makes me worry they wonā€™t really be able to ā€œget rightā€ so to speak. Hoping Iā€™m wrong there for sure!
Itā€™s not strictly a coaching and scheme issue. I see it as a talent issue. Outside of Ramczyk, this line doesnā€™t have a starting-caliber player.

Carr got hurt on a 3rd and 9 when the RB missed his block. That gave the right DE that extra fraction of a second to get home. Carr knew he needed 9 yards, so he waited.

How many times have we fans yelled and screamed about throwing 4 yard passes on 3rd and long? I know I have many many times in recent years. Thats the conservative playcalling we make so much fuss about.

Now as the overall game plan? You are 100% correct. We absolutely need the plan to be quick hitters. But come 3rd down, it is what it is. They made a point on NOF's podcast that we ran the ball 13 times on first down and that 9 of those runs went for 1 yard or less. 3rd and long gives a huge advantage to the pass rush. The flip side is that OL has a huge advantage on run plays. THAT's where we need to start.
Right, weā€™re not winning the early downs. No rhythm
