If Jayden Daniels declares we need to draft him. (1 Viewer)

You want a QB that holds on to the ball too long, takes unnecessary hits, and gives the football away?

Gives the football away? The guy has protected the football remarkably well since he has been at LSU, especially considering how much it's in his hands....

There are many valid criticisms you could levy towards JD, that is really not one of them.....

I was pleased in last night's game that he wasn't locking in on his primary receiver and a number of times he went to his 2nd and 3rd option.
I still don't believe he has an NFL caliber arm but then again neither does Lamar Jackson or Goff...

Jayden Daniel’s in LSU’s offense is having an amazing season. He’s ridiculous in the red zone and has only thrown one interception this year. We already run his plays in the form of Taysom Hill’s set of plays. He runs the QB power and the read option as good as anyone. He has good arm talent but will need to put less air on some throws in the NFL.

But I think he fits the Saints offense well, not just the QB power game but also the timing plays.

He’s not projected to go high, he’s not even projected to go in the first 3 rounds, but that could change with more success. Still he’s worth a pick IMO. I would take him in the second round just to make sure we get a QB.

Even if he doesn’t turn out to be a full time starter we have a replacement for Taysom.

All the LSU fans always want us to draft their guys. How would y’all feel about us drafting Daniels?
I'm responding to the original posters comments from last year where he was getting clowned. SaintMike nice job.

I can only compare the leap Daniels has made so far this year (not the jump Joe Burrow from year 1 to year 2) but not too far off. Like many, I'm a huge Burrow fan).

Last year he was quick to run. Now he goes through 1, 2, 3 and sometimes 4 progressions before throwing the ball. He now runs when the opportunity presents itself. He has also added about 10 lbs of muscle this off season. Add another 15 pounds and now he's 6'4" - 220 lbs.

Proud of this young man.

To answer the question: No dobut I'd take him with a high second round pick and let him develop for a couple of years behind Carr.

This is the only thing I didn't like about Daniels last year. Too many times he would take off and run only to be stopped after 2-3 yards. This year he hangs in there just long enough to find the open man or throw it away. His run average is much higher this year because he runs to green. I hope he learns to throw to green as well. I think if he improves even marginally, he'll be in the top 10.

His skill set and body remind me of Randall Cunningham.

I'm not sure exactly what you are crowing about here.
I recognized his talent to be a good NFL QB while others dismissed my opinion.

Had he declared in 2023 we could have drafted him in the late first to late 2nd round.

And his performance in the 2023 season catapulted his draft stock. No reason to be confused. If I made the post in 2024 it would say “we should trade up for Daniels”.

So, if I understand you correctly, you posted that Jayden Daniels was good and you think you're the only person who saw that? How big of a delusional narcissist are you?

Our draft should be nothing but linemen. O-line, D-line and maybe, just maybe a linebacker.

Many others recognized his talent too and many others knew he needed another year in college. In fact, Bclemms totally nailed it saying he needed to go back to LSU for one more year and might be a top 5 pick if he did. Others mentioned it could be a Burrow situation.

The proof is in this thread. Go back and read it. Daniels actually turned out better than i initially assessed although I did mention his lack of turnovers and his big time plays.

I’m willing to go out on a limb. Doesn’t make me a narcissist.
