If Jayden Daniels declares we need to draft him. (2 Viewers)

I read somewhere that he's taking the Burrow route and not doing a one and one after transferring. It was part of his plan when he transferred.

there is still a lot of season left. wouldn't jump to conclusions on any of these QBs

He be a good mid round pick to sit and learn, but he's too small in my opinion....You can only run so much in the NFL before you get hurt. Unless you're built like Allen or Lamar, He wouldn't last in the NFL. I rather have Hooker even though he had a bad day vs Georgia....

Lamar was smaller in college, but he's put on some muscle in the NFL. Daniels has already put on 25lbs in college and is currently 6'3" 200lbs, but he really needs to be in the 215lbs range or so.

How many radars would he be on this board if he was still at ASU and not LSU?

How many Saints Report members watch every ASU game? That's how many.

Kid has a long way to go, but he's super-gifted. Probably a 3rd rounder if he comes out, but I think a late 1st rounder if he plays next year.

Jayden still has another season of eligibility

But I want to clarify things about a few things

He's too small.

He's simply underweight, but he's a great size for a 21 year old.

He's inaccurate

He's passing for 70% completion rating. He's actually pretty accurate for a college prospect with good short area touch and been throwing with anticipation.

He's doesn't have arm strength

He actually has very good arm strength, but likes to pass more West Coast Short to intermediate style. He spreads the ball a lot when possible.

He won't last long

I disagree with this strongly, because he plays a really safe running style almost like Kamara.

The biggest hurdle with Jayden Daniels is that he is underweight and underdeveloped.

Anybody that's been watching Daniel's this year knows that incredible growth he shown in just 9 games.

Is he NFL ready for 2023? Of course not.

Is he a precision passer? Not yet. He's very much a rhythm passer. All precision passer start out as Rhythm passers.

If he declares for 2023... Should we draft and stash him in the 2nd round. I wouldn't be against it. He has a solid to good ceiling. Gots a little bit of a nice clutch gene.
This forum is amazing. Look at my reactions as the OP compared to yours. We both said we would take him in the second round and I get no likes 🤷🏾‍♂️

Anyway, I like your take!

I think it's for three reasons...

-Your title comes off a little too strong and cliche. We been through this "We need to draft this player" a million times over.

We recently also had a super persistent user trying to shove Mac Jones down our throat as the greatest QB prospect of all time. He wasn't. We all knew he wasn't. He was extremely argumentive over it. So, people here are very turned off by these bold declaration.

- People always want a flashy elite prospects and those people that reacted to you never saw my post.

-lastly, I try to be objective and breakdown a QB their pros and cons. I try to sell on potential, but not be misleading on how great he could be... I just examine the talent. Figure out his ceiling and try to gauge the best outcome for him. I don't try to compare him to other players. I explain his style and skillset and elaborate on his faults.

I still don't have a full grasp on his floor to ceiling ratio. He keeps flashing high ceiling potential, but I'm not exactly sure if it's simply a flash or an elite ceiling just yet.

To further elaborate, JD has a great fundamental aspects to his game. He doesn't like throwing bad or risky passes. He's very smart at avoiding bad passes.

He's really continuity dependent with his WRs and offense. He just keeps getting better every week it seems. So, he'll continue to get better with more reps. Which maybe make him extremely talent dependent on WR. Some elite QB can just pass to anyone like Bryce Young. JD isn't anywhere to close to being that type of QB and may never will be. Much like a Matt Ryan. Matt Ryan is nothing without elite WR and Oline talent

JD is rapidly improving with every rep in the offense and he's really consistent. You put him into a system for 5-6 years. He may become that guy that can pass to any WR.

He has a cool temperament, but he does needs to avoid sacks better and throw the ball away.

Jayden Daniel’s in LSU’s offense is having an amazing season. He’s ridiculous in the red zone and has only thrown one interception this year. We already run his plays in the form of Taysom Hill’s set of plays. He runs the QB power and the read option as good as anyone. He has good arm talent but will need to put less air on some throws in the NFL.

But I think he fits the Saints offense well, not just the QB power game but also the timing plays.

He’s not projected to go high, he’s not even projected to go in the first 3 rounds, but that could change with more success. Still he’s worth a pick IMO. I would take him in the second round just to make sure we get a QB.

Even if he doesn’t turn out to be a full time starter we have a replacement for Taysom.

All the LSU fans always want us to draft their guys. How would y’all feel about us drafting Daniels?
I like him a lot I think he's really smart with the football in his hands. He's a good prospect.

I think we need to pump the brakes a bit on Daniels….with his current style of play he would not last 4 games in the NFL….he has made some good strides as a passer and needs to continue and be more consistent/accurate….he may improve himself into a 1st round pick but he is not there yet….
But.. But... He plays for LSU...
