If Jayden Daniels declares we need to draft him. (1 Viewer)

Just please stop for a moment and analyze Daniels as a passer in the pocket then tell me you want to draft him. Same with FSU QB.
Travis is a good pocket passer. He is not a running QB, he only uses his legs to extend plays. The FSU OL is really bad, and Travis has great poise and pocket presence. He feels when the pressure is coming, and makes good decisions moving in the pocket. He doesn’t have a great arm or elite athleticism. But that’s why he isn’t a 1st round prospect and should be available to us.

Burrow was a late round draft pick at best after his 1st year at LSU. 1 more year and he was the #1 overall.

I dont think Daniels has that skill set, but I didnt think Burrow did either in his 1st year. Daniels has played much more college football than Burrow did though. This might be Daniels' ceiling. His accuracy needs work, and he definitely needs to learn to progress through his receivers. He has a primary, then its take off and run. He almost progresses through his receivers zero. That might work in college, but that will not work in the NFL and his body isnt built to handle NFL hits.

Burrow’s improvement in his last year is once in a lifetime IMO….I think JD could be an NFL QB IF he continues to improve but he isn’t there just yet….I really wouldn’t compare any QB to Burrow, just not fair…..

I think folks need to remember that all those plays he makes with his legs would get him killed in the NFL….

IMO the best pro prospect at QB coming out in 2024 is Drake Maye from North Carolina. 6'4", 220, mobile, and can throw either from pocket or on move. Very good runner, though he is a pure pocket passer. Possesses arm strength, accuracy, smarts and mobility. And this opinion is coming from a Blue Devil who is normally very pained in any praise for unc. Daniels not at the same level.

Theres no reason for Daniels to declare after this season, get another year in a system and see if a light comes on with his reads and accuracy. Nothing Ive seen from him translates to the NFL right now. I think Daniels is at his ceiling already, so he can be out of football next summer, or he can be playing for LSU. Burrow had virtually no playing time at Ohio State. He threw 39 passes there. Daniels threw over 700 for Arizona State. You can call Burrows first year at LSU knocking off the rust from not playing since high school. Daniels is what he is at this point. His stats as a freshman at Arizona State are in the ballpark of his stats this season at LSU. He is just pulling the ball down and running more often.

Quit putting Joe Burrow on a pedestal. Plenty of QB have made leaps.. Justin Herbert and Josh Allen are example of that. Both been better Pro QBs than Burrow.

Maye should be the target, even if we have to wait an extra year.

Well I hope we can find a diamond in the rough in the mid rounds..... dont care who it is.... However, I am thinking Daniels stays put unless LSU somehow runs the table the rest of the way.... then Daniels might not pass up the 1st rd grade he will most likely get if LSU wins it all this year... Hard not to find any college QB not going in the 1st rd after winning the CFP....

If I had to compare Daniels to any other QB it would be Kellen Mond from A&M. IMO their styles are very similar and Mond isn’t going to be starting in the NFL anytime soon unless forced to by injuries.

WTF are you even talking about? Burrow went from a likely late round or undrafted player after his 1st year at LSU to having arguably the best season in history for a college QB and the 1st player picked in the draft…..I can’t think of another QB that improved that drastically after one season….Calling it merely a “leap” is kind of ridiculous….he also took his team to a SB in his 2nd year with a shaky offensive line….

I don’t think that is fair either….I think he has the potential to play QB in the NFL if he stays another year and continues to improve….he is just not there quite yet…..

Nobody has to put Burrow on a pedestal, he put himself through his play and moxy. Funny, the two guys you listed both put up stats, but the one you decided to bash LED his team to a Super Bowl.

Getting to a Superbowl is a team sport. It's irrelevant.
