If Jeanty is available at 9, we take him. No brainer. (41 Viewers)

What you're describing is winning. Nobody cares about Reggie if we never had Brees. A winning football team brings electricity to the building.

The question is of taking a rb in the top 10 al results in winning. History says no. With that said I would be okay with it.
If we're invoking Brees you could say the same about any player or position we had during that era

I like Jeanty, i mean, who doesnt? But i personally cant take him over a WR1 or an EDGE player who can finish. Especially this year where the RB position is uniquely loaded w/talent. Id rather have any combination of TMac or Mike Green in RD1 & Omarion Hampton or Kaleb Johnson RD2, than Jeanty RD1 & whatever in RD2.

WR & EDGE are premium positions, look at how much those dudes get paid. RB on the other hand isnt these days. If we had hope already on the roster at WR &/or EDGE, instead of a bunch of injury prone, undeveloped, aging talent, fine, luxury pick away & grab the RB top 10. But if youre us, whether it’s a WR, EDGE, or even a CB, DT or OT, take the premium pick at 9.

& though they may not have had the dream season, or seem as athletically gifted as Jeanty, the dudes in this draft class are BALLERS! From Skattebo, to Hampton, to Kaleb Johnson, & the two Ohio St kids, make no mistake, these dudes have the makings of legit high end RB1s. & there’s even more guys & they can all be had Day2 & 3.
So basically you’re drinking the looks of the NFL want you to drink… Check last season what Eagles did.. the Rn1 was he primary reason they were mostly unstoppable.

We need to stop waiting for it to be a need that’s how we end up here lol
I think having him under the wing of a captain will do wonders for the team he can learn from someone that can actually still go and show it on the field
I didn't necessarily say it would be a bad pick.

I just think OL, DE, LB, TE, and CB are bigger needs.

If they just go BPA, it won't matter.

Huh…? Dude, i think youve just been drinking. I think YOU should check last season what the Eagles did. The DEFENSE was the primary reason they were mostly unstoppable.

I mean honestly, what’s the biggest difference between Jeanty & Omarion Hampton? Or Jeanty & Kaleb Johnson? Or Skattebo? Or the Ohio St guys? Is Jeanty actually that much better? Sell me on Jeanty over those guys, cause i dont think gap between them is that much. Jeanty had a crazy season, for sure, but i seriously doubt he’ll be able do all that in the NFL. I think the guys in the league are a little better than the kids in the Mountain West, lol!

I’m sure as long as it’s not some guy none of us heard of we will talk ourselves into the pick lol

The only real selling point is name recognition, only because there isn’t much that separates them talent wise

It would be the best move this franchise could possibly make. It would fire up the fan base a la Reggie Bush/Ricky Williams. It also just makes sense with Kamara being over 30. Nothing opens up the passing game more than a loaded backfield. This may not be the popular opinion on here, but I don’t see how we could pass that up if he falls in our lap.
Popular imo----

There is plenty of discussion on here in the 37 other threads about taking Jeanty at 9 and why he's better than the other guys. But, you are right, those other guys are grouped together and nearly interchangeable.

It's looking like he might not even be there at 9, so all of this discussion might be for nothing.

Yeah, we don’t win the Super Bowl without Reggie here that season imo.
Never forget the wonderful contribution of Pierre Thomas, one of our most unsung heroes. It says everything about how highly PT was valued that on 4th and 1 on the most critical play in franchise history SP went with him.
Right now with all these 3-3-5 and 4-2-5 defensive sets, RBs are coming back into their own in terms of positional value.
