Hypothetical: If Moore said no, then what? (2 Viewers)

Based on articles and posts here you would've thought Brady was clearly the favorite over Moore. He dropped out before the AFC title game so we didn't have that bad performance to consider. So you might be right that Moore was the favorite all along and we lucked out that his team is still playing and Brady's isn't.

Based on the articles I've read, Moore was the Saints choice over everyone except Glenn and maybe Vrabel. Ben Johnson was never an option so who knows where he would have fallen in the order.

On this board, Brady and McCarthy were neck and neck for who was the choice on this board, but in the end, I think McCarthy was in the lead.

I think Brady was just more of a known commodity on this board and with this fan base because of his time with the Saints and LSU. Same with McCarthy. Where as Moore isn't someone most of us were very familiar with unless you remember him playing QB at Boise State.

Anything could happen, but Moore is in a much different position from McDaniels. McDaniels was trying to get his 2nd HC job which he knew would be his last chance as a HC so he has to be even more cautious about what he is going to take. And the consequence for McDaniels was that he had to wait 4 years for another HC job and only the Raiders would hire him.

Moore has been on the interview circuit for a few years and is trying to get his first offer. If he verbally accepted and then changed his mind, it would be a bad look for him. Or to use the popular phrase, changing his mind after verbally agreeing to take the job would be very bad optics for Moore and could hurt him while looking for other HC jobs in the future.

Now, if he hasn't verbally accepted, all bets are off.
Yep, and it shouldn’t be forgotten that McDaniels is a grade A asshat.

With McCarthy and others pulling out, I think its obvious an agreement has been made. If he pulls a Liam Coen on us then thats a real bad look all around. I don't think the Saints would have waited to interview McCarthy till the end of the week if it wasn't just to entertain the idea. If Moore said no on Monday, I think the Saints would be way more urgent in interviewing and throwing a bounty at McCarthy and not wait 4 days to do it.

If Moore does say no, then its throw everything you can at McCarthy to change his mind, or ride with Rizzi and take a hard look internally at why we had to settle with that.
Yes. I think the deal has been made. If the Saints didn’t have Moore locked up they’d be announcing their decision by now. The only reason for the silence is because they can’t announce Moore, but they can announce anyone else.

If they want Rizzi or Kafka don’t you think they would have announced it? Neither one has another job offer.

I think all available signs are pointing in that direction (of him being the coach)

Yes and no.

The media that it would leak to are also the media who know they can’t say anything. It’s such a weird unwritten rule that nothing can take away from the game for the next two weeks but IIWII
You don't keep a secret like that quiet, it may not be official, but if he's the guy, it will get out.

I'd think MM would still be an option. I imagine Brady dropped out because Moore was in the lead. He may have moved on by now though, dunno. Some people here like Kafka. Few other options. No clue who would be best.

Pretty clear he already said yes though.
IMO, There’s no way that Mike would be an option in that scenario. He probably feels betrayed right now. Had he known he wasn’t getting the job, he’d still be at Dallas. Him shaking lose wasn’t just luck, he took a calculated risk and lost.

I saw this on a YouTube thread and thought it would make for an interesting discussion.

We may not know until after the Super Bowl who the Saints next HC coach is, as these things are fluid and there's nothing solid until a contract is signed.

But, what if Moore finally turns them down, and we've seen things like this happen.

THEN WHAT??
Rizzi it is by default.

It has gotten out, there’s a reason every writer has stated Moore is the leader to be the Saints coach, from Schefty on down. Unfortunately we just have a fanbase that can’t accept the fact that this front office can do something right

It happens quite a bit. The last two Dolphins hires (McDaniel and Flores) were each kept “secret” until after the Super Bowl. Very similar to this.

At this point, no Moore would be a lot less. It’s Moore or bust. If Loomis can’t seal the deal, it will be a major fail.

Then I get annoyed at my favorite billion dollar private company and its million dollar employees.

Then, watch this board completely implode and be entertained at all the "fans" losing their d*MN minds and throwing themselves out windows. It's gonna be bad in here.

Do you think the Saints are in the dark about a position they are offering? they know he said yes, we do not know he said yes because of the NFL Rules prohibiting the announcement until after the Super Bowl.
Prohibits the team from announcing. We'll know before the SB.
