On his best day he’s Case Keenum. He is a placeholder, not a guy you intentionally build around. He has only started 20 games. How would we really know, how good he is. Minshew completed 66.1% of his passes last season for 2,259 yards with 16 touchdowns to five interceptions, finishing with a quarterback rating of 95.9. With the Jags! He isn't as smart as Trevor, but more athletic in the pocket.
Over the course of Minshew's career, he has a 94.4 passer rating, 39 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions. He might not be the guy for us, but he is being very undervalued.
That's calling it pretty quickly w/ only 22 games played. But, you are right. He would be a QB you were always trying to upgrade on. I get what you are saying. I see him being more of a game manager type than that, but he needs to be in a rhythm passing game to thrive. And that limits his opportunities. Yea, Case Keenum, or Colt McCoy is about right. On his best day he’s Case Keenum. He is a placeholder, not a guy you intentionally build around.
I soured on Trevor after watching him against LSU. Yeah, they were a good defense, but they made him look positively mediocre.I've been saying for a few years now I don't think Trevor Lawrence is anything special. I agree it is hard to judge his performance because the Jags are terrible, but I just don't think he is going to ever be a great QB....
In college Lawrence was good when he was off script and trying to make something happen when a play broke down, but I don’t think his arm is good enough to do that the way a guy like Herbert can in the NFL and he isn’t accurate enough either. In college he had guys running wide open and it didn’t matter as muchI soured on Trevor after watching him against LSU. Yeah, they were a good defense, but they made him look positively mediocre.
Physically he can drive the ball and make plays many QBs cant do. Hes a rookie on a bad team but ive seen plenty of flashes.I soured on Trevor after watching him against LSU. Yeah, they were a good defense, but they made him look positively mediocre.
Another Saints fan who is a Coug? What year? BS College of Education c/o 99Minshew has a cool stache and is a funny guy, but he is backup grade. I love him, he QB'd my alma mater for his last and best college season, but he does not have the skills to go with all that "moxie."
JMHO
1995, BA, College of Arts and Sciences. 2011 MA, History. Pullman is a great college town, but it was a real culture shock for a guy like me from Nola/the Gulf Coast. Go Cougs! Sun Bowl bound!Another Saints fan who is a Coug? What year? BS College of Education c/o 99
Jury is still out, just as it is on every young QB, but the guy has every physical attribute you could want, including an absolute cannon for a right arm, so I have no idea what you think you are watching....Arm talent is not an issueIn college Lawrence was good when he was off script and trying to make something happen when a play broke down, but I don’t think his arm is good enough to do that the way a guy like Herbert can in the NFL and he isn’t accurate enough either. Sorry you have no idea what I am talking about. I do not really care how things turn out for Lawrence, just noting that he is not accurate when under pressure and he does not have a strong enough arm to overcome poor footwork and inconsistent mechanics. He can still maybe be a good QB in the league, but he does not have a strong enough arm to make crazy throws like he could in college.Jury is still out, just as it is on every young QB, but the guy has every physical attribute you could want, including an absolute cannon for a right arm, so I have no idea what you think you are watching....Arm talent is not an issue
I was commenting on how he looked mediocre against LSU. I'm not commenting about him on the Jags, but Minshew did better with the same weapons.Physically he can drive the ball and make plays many QBs cant do. Hes a rookie on a bad team but ive seen plenty of flashes.
Well, this second post seems to indicate that you have questions about his mechanics, whereas the first post seems to be questioning his arm strength. His arm strength is elite. Not good, ELITE, so I was confused about what you were talking about. It's not me saying he has elite arm strength. It's the NFL scouts saying it.Sorry you have no idea what I am talking about. If you love his arm, then good for you, but I know what I am watching and I gave my opinion on it. You disagree. OK, move along tough guy.
