If Rizz works out, this is really bad for Loomis (2 Viewers)

YES , While injuries are a BIG reason we were 2-7 we really should have won the Philly and 1st ATL game. I think ML didn't want it to happen but I think he saw the locker room slipping away from DA even more
Also DA have more intensity during TC and that faded once the season started.
All this GB put her foot down and made ML fire him is just unlikely speculation. In the interview Underhill did with ML he said it was an organizational decision. Also this thing where GB went behind ML's back and emailed players talk is more unlikely speculation. I'd bet $$$ that ML knew she was emailing players and probably welcomed a different perspective

There is no way on earth that there was 1 inch of space between what Mrs. Benson was doing and what ML knew about. They may have not been on the same page about the timing of firing DA, but I can assure you that Mrs. Benson did not go behind his back to do her research. If anything, she's a fan and closer in touch with the fan sentiment than Loomis, but there's a reason that he is in charge of everything.

You don’t allow your players to lose for the rest of the season bc you want to show a coach respect. If ML was allowing DA to coach the remainder of the season, then it would’ve been for draft position (which would be secretly tanking) or bc he didn’t want to be wrong about him. Which would still be foolish and egotistical. As a GM, you have a job to do. Friends or no friends, you do what is best for the team, not one person

Why is it so hard for you to see that possibly Loomis sees continuity and not changing mid-season as a generally preferable option than otherwise?

I think Loomis was tone deaf. He just wasn't with it. I've been a long time supporter of Loomis but seeing how he handled Brees retiring, and Payton leaving has been quite poor. You don't build a franchise around Dennis Allen. That was one of teh dumbest choices he could possibly make and he made it.

A lot of people forget/overlook the fact these players have friendships all over the league. They talk to each other all the time. The way the players talked to Benson to cause her to make a move, just imagine what their conversations with their friends around the league sounded like. The Saints without a doubt were rocketing down to radioactive territory before DA was fired.
Yeah, if the coach has lost the players, he has to go. However, sometimes there are antagonistic players on the team that can easily make things appear worse than they are, and they have to be dealt with.

I would feel better if Gayle had fired DA on black Monday, and also fired the chirping players.

I think the chirping players, specifically MT, are gone. What was left are savy vets that were doing their job despite knowing that DA wasn't the right coach for the job. For instance, Cam, Tyrann, and AK were very professional whenever they gave interviews, but it has become clear now that all of them thought changes needed to be made that DA would not make and that DA wasn't getting the job done.

What’s with this notion that you only find good talent by draft position? There are many talented players, who can become superstars, stars, good players, or contributors all throughout the draft. Do you know how much talent we missed out on drafting based on need? No one will convince me that almost the entire 2nd rd of the 2020 NFL draft, wasn’t more talented than a player like Ruiz. Thats just one example. BPA
The chances of getting a very talented player increases with draft position, in each round. The thought that it doesn't mean anything is foolish.

Nobody gets Loomis.

Nobody but somewhat me.

Mickey Loomis is not and was never that GM.

Since Mickey got here, he has been one head of a three-headed monster. He has never run it all and probably shouldn't.

It was never his call who the coaches are. Yeah, he has tremendous input, just like the coaches have input on the draft but in the end it's not his call. On Dennis Allen, Loomis was just supporting his co-worker, not his guy. He will shift gears and support his next co-worker. There will not be a problem with that.

Mickey Loomis still is and always has been The Bean-Counter. He's the guy when someone comes up and says hey coach I'm not getting enough for this. You say I'm with you man. It's that Loomis guy. Loomis is the guy who gets you a higher-value roster today based on future salary caps, not today's salary cap. Nobody seems to get he's gaming the system and we've managed to consistently put a better-than-average team on the field year in and year out.

Of course there have been mistakes. It never works out 100%, but get this, Loomis is not the one who is deciding who goes and who stays. It's the coaches and player personnel department who's telling him who they want over who (thats not one over one but often one over three or so) and he's doing what he can to keep the one the coaches want. He also does a pretty darn good job of not backstabbing players despite being cast as the bad guy.

Fans should be more careful in understanding what they ask for or...

Loomis didn’t hold this job for 22 years just for it to end this way. Guy isn’t going anywhere…find a way to cope. This talking point is becoming tiresome.
You know what’s tiresome being in cap hell every year. That’s why we can’t attract better players cause we don't have any money!

Injuries are an excuse. Every single team in the NFL has had major injuries so far. No team is hollering about an injury excuse. You go out there and play to win. Next man up, is a mantra for a reason. DA was a major cancer to our team. The league knew it, the players knew it, the media knew it, and our fans should have known it. Absolutely zero reason to keep the cancer on for the remainder of the season, unless you are tanking. Too bad we don’t have a GM that has the bowls to do his dang job properly.
If you can find me a team that has had the amount of injuries to key position and position groups to the extent that we have AND is 7-3 or better. Please show me. I'm NOT saying that DA is a good HC but to just dismiss being decimated by injuries and to the positions we have been by saying " Next man up" is being facetious. But go ahead tell me which teams. I'll wait

Almost every round you can say see a better player was drafted after the player taken. And no team takes just the BPA ,it's always the BPA at a position of need. If you have JJ and TJ Watt as your edge rushers and your OT's are mediocre and Hutchinson is available at your pick you are not passing up a Penei Sewell
Here are the odds of finding a quality player by round

1st round - about 50% of players drafted in the 1st round developed into solid NFL starters.

2nd round - about 33% of players drafted in the 2nd round developed into solid NFL starter. From here, it dropped by 50% per round.

3rd round - about 16%.

4th round - about 8%.

5th round - about 4-5%.

6th round - about 2%.

7th round - about 1-2%.

Totally agree... Loomis' tenure started out with "He is just an accountant"... Then he hired SP and things happend and evolved to "Make it happen Loomis"... The guy is a great GM.. GREAT... He and SP mortgaged the future to get DB another ring.. For all the reasons we know it did not happen.. BUT we all agreed with it at the time.... I like stability... maybe he was holing onto DA too long... granted.. But let's look at hi body of work and talent as a GM...
