If we miss out on Daniels, is there another QB to draft in the 1st? (1 Viewer)

I worry about Penix, so many injuries in his career. Seems like a good kid, solid couple years in college, but 3 season ending injuries.
I worry about that too but there are some intangibles about him and McCarthy too that I like. The teams rally around those guys. Even with the injury I still like Jordan Travis a lot too.

I like Travis as well. He was projected as a 3rd rounder pre injury. Now it’s looking like the 3rd or 4th round so there’s value there for sure.

Whatever it takes the Saints cannot missed out on drafting a franchise quarterback
There are SO many recent examples of teams trying this approach (QB no matter what) and failing miserably and being in as bad or worse position
If the right QB is there you pull the trigger, if not don’t draft a 4th rd QB in the 1st

If the QB is not there, just draft play makers and stink it up every year until the right QB falls to the Saints eventually in one of these upcoming drafts.

The Saints will be top 10 in drafts for at-least the next 3-4 seasons, that I am assumung.

You don't think Nix, Penix or McCarthy could be 1st rounders? I know we would have a shot at one of those.

This mindset is like saying because the big hitter in baseball strikeouts he stops swinging.

If you grade a QB in the first two rounds and you have your shot you take it. There’s no debating it. This is one of the few years that there’s a multitude of QBs that will have a high enough grade. Just about any well ran organization in our exact position would be looking to do so. Unless of course some miracle happens and we were to win enough to really mess up draft position, which isn’t happening.

On top of that, I’d rather take a shot on a star talented QB then another OL or DE from a JUCO college.

You grab Malik Nabers,Coleman or Brock Bowers in the 1st and grab Jordan Travis in the 2nd if Daniels is unavailable.
So you’d be good with reaching on Travis or would you rather trade back into the 3rd or possibly the 4th to get him?

Edit: Now there’s some saying 5th or 6th round

I don’t care about reaching if they feel it’s their guy, but not that much.

December 2 article

Given that Travis is 24, teams will rather draft younger quarterbacks they can try and develop and mold to their liking. He's also a smaller QB at 6-foot-1, 202 pounds, which will also impact his draft stock.

Ultimately, Travis will likely be a Day 3 pick and will find himself taken in the fifth or sixth round to be a backup QB, according to many scouts.”

Of course those guys are wrong more than right

You have to include Maye when talking about 1st round QBs as well
Maye and Daniels are the only 2 1st round QBs on my board. But they are likely to be gone by pick 5. I'd go with offensive of defensive line, if they're off the board and try to snag a QB in the 2nd round

Yup, 6 of the first 8 picks could easily look to go QB. Williams, regardless of his bad senior year and his ignorance with saying he wants ownership, he’s got elite skills that not many people possess, so someone will snatch him in the top 3.
