If we miss out on Daniels, is there another QB to draft in the 1st? (2 Viewers)

Sorry man, this team is in desperate need of a solid rookie QB going forward on a rookie deal for 4 or 5 years. It’s how EVERY single team that is a contender right this moment was built along the way.
I’m not at all saying we don’t need a QB, I’m saying drafting a QB no matter what because we need one has a much higher failure rate than success
If (the new HC and OC) find their guy available, of course they go get him, but the ‘21 draft class should be more of a cautionary tale and to try to not fill an inside straight

I agree with this 100%. Never draft a QB just because it’s a need. Find a way to go get your guy, or address other needs.

If the QB is not there, just draft play makers and stink it up every year until the right QB falls to the Saints eventually in one of these upcoming drafts.

The Saints will be top 10 in drafts for at-least the next 3-4 seasons, that I am assumung.
I was going to suggest something like this. Look at the 49ers. Now granted, they sorta stumbled upon this by accident, but it’s a copy cat league. They found their playmakers on both sides of the ball and then lucked out with Purdy as Mr Irrelevant. Dont get me wrong, Purdy is good, but when CMC and Deebo was out, they lost 3 straight. That’s no fluke. So many teams want to find the QB first, then they take forever to build around that QB (for the most part).

....but without anyone capable of pass protecting out front whoever we draft is gonna get slammed onto IR by week 4
Carr will start the season as QB1 regardless of who we pick in the draft

Draft the best QB that falls to us in the 1st. Then draft Oline and Dline x 4.

Then build the offense around that QB’s skill set.

If they want to trade up and get Daniels, I am fine with that. But if they stay in teens, where we likely end up, then you do not force the pick. Take position of need, WITHIN the pool of players available for that area . Our need is just as desperate at OL, TE, DE as it is at QB.

If we could get Daniels for a swap of 1s, Denver's 2 and next year's 2, I'm for it.

Otherwise hope to grab Nix. We might have some compensatory picks to use to move up in the 2nd.

Bo Nix all day! Matter of fact, i think Nix has the highest floor of all the available QBs in this draft. Nix also has tons of untapped potential as a deep ball passer. That dude just hits who’s open & has the legs to kill teams on the hoof. Bo Nix is a smarter, more accurate version of Dak.

This just sounds like the Cleveland strategy that worked so well... Eventually they went out and paid a guy with big character questions over $200m guaranteed to fill the position, and that's not been going so well either.
Cleveland has been a dumpster fire for a long time. Bad comparison.

Our opinions on this differ. The Browns kept deciding against drafting a QB high for several years and you can make the argument they're still looking.

I feel my point stands.
