If we miss out on Daniels, is there another QB to draft in the 1st? (1 Viewer)

Maye and Daniels are the only 2 1st round QBs on my board. But they are likely to be gone by pick 5. I'd go with offensive of defensive line, if they're off the board and try to snag a QB in the 2nd round
What about Ewers, will he be there in the second, and could he be our guy?

Of course right now all the draft nerds on TV will say 4 first round QBs. Someone will fall to the 2nd or 3rd, watch

The best QB in the league today was taken with the last pick in the draft. You can find QBs any round

This mindset is like saying because the big hitter in baseball strikeouts he stops swinging.

If you grade a QB in the first two rounds and you have your shot you take it. There’s no debating it. This is one of the few years that there’s a multitude of QBs that will have a high enough grade. Just about any well ran organization in our exact position would be looking to do so. Unless of course some miracle happens and we were to win enough to really mess up draft position, which isn’t happening.

On top of that, I’d rather take a shot on a star talented QB then another OL or DE from a JUCO college.
It’s not like your analogy at all
Or to extend your analogy it’s like seeing a college big hitter (who hasn’t faced a lot of pro ready arms ) and jumping on that while you still need 1st & 3rd basemen - I’m pretending 1st & 3rd are O & D linemen

The problem with the team now is not their drafting approach- it’s that they’ve had too many misses drafting linemen
Carr is clearly not the answer, but he could have been much better this year if Oline had protected and run blocked at beginning of year
And once O got it together, Dline forgets how to play

Here’s my hot take
If our recent draft choices had lived up to their draft position, we’d be set for a deep playoff run even with Carr
And the corollary is that no QB we can draft will help fix the trenches

Possible and probable are doing battle in your post
Isn’t it usually the case that QBs continue to rise up the draft board ?
Sure every now and then you’ll have a supposed top 10 start to free fall but it’s usually bc of some not widely discussed issue

I watched a little bit of the highlights of Pennix during the Heisman touting a few days ago.
While I’m sure he’s a fantastic QB, it seems like he has a very long wind up before releasing the ball.
Anyone else notice that?

If the QB is not there, just draft play makers and stink it up every year until the right QB falls to the Saints eventually in one of these upcoming drafts.

The Saints will be top 10 in drafts for at-least the next 3-4 seasons, that I am assumung.
This just sounds like the Cleveland strategy that worked so well... Eventually they went out and paid a guy with big character questions over $200m guaranteed to fill the position, and that's not been going so well either.

In the 1st I can see Daniels, Maye, Penix, and maybe Williams. I can see Nix and Travis in the second as there play this year has been very good. McCarthy is a wild card because Michigan was so run dominate and it seems like he was never really relied upon to win games.

All I’ve done is read about these guys and I don’t watch college football. With that said, I’ve read Penix reads defenses, processes what he sees on the field and gets through his progressions like a seasoned pro. If we can keep a guy like that healthy, that’s the type player I want.

....but without anyone capable of pass protecting out front whoever we draft is gonna get slammed onto IR by week 4
And then into the Super Bowl by year 2 if you're following the Burrow storyline.

Real talk, I believe in surrounding a young QB with great line play, a running game and complementary defense - which is why Anthony Richardson will probably see success in the wins column before dinner of his more celebrated draft classmates. However, the Bengals also showed why taking a great player at the position can still work out very well.

Which one of them can get the ball out accurately 1.5 seconds and has bones made of granite?

Sorry man, this team is in desperate need of a solid rookie QB going forward on a rookie deal for 4 or 5 years. It’s how every single team that is a contender right this moment was built along the way, except Detroit.

Not only does it allow them the opportunity for success on the field but it allows them some opportunities to get the cap under control. It’s without a doubt the way they should be prepping and the way any well ran organization would be planning, of course it has to fall your way in the draft as well.
