I'm not sure who will trade for Carr

I was trying to think knowing Carr has a clause where he could possibly go to, and the only team is the Steelers. However, it's a cold weather environment and Carr will probably not want to go there.

These teams MIGHT be interested:
Dolphins(Tua still starts)
Raiders(does Brady want him?)

Carr will say no to the Browns, another cold weather team among other reasons. There's nowhere for him to go really. The 49ers are already in extension talks with a QB, and the Colts have two QBs already. Likely, Carr will be a backup with another team as I do not see him taking anyone's starting job if he's traded.

Because of all of this, Carr is likely not getting traded this year and if the Saints do draft Ward or Sanders, they're backing him up, and that will create problems unless the Saints cut him. That's what would be pathetic about this, a top 15 QB potentially forced to not start in 2025 unless he goes to a winning cold weather team or one that is often on the losing end of the former.

He can’t be cut

He can’t be cut

He can't be traded/cut until june 1st, after that it's manageable and it's the same thing cap wise for us if he's cut or traded. Any team trading for him this year would get a starting QB costing 1.2M with a team option for 50M next year. I think that has value. A starting QB goes down for a contender during the training camp/preseason and we have a potential trading partner. We traded a 3rd round pick for Teddy B in 2019, might be copium but I feel like we could get that (in this hypothetical scenario where we draft a QB high and want to get rid of Carr 1 year early)

Love these threads.

Fans always trying to push players out the door because they think that "X player sucks" but then entirely ignore the logic of why would another team trade for said player if they do indeed suck?

They want the draft pick(s) they think we would receive in the trade to improve the position/team but why wouldn't the other team in this theoretical just keep their pick(s) to do the same and have a cheap, young player vs. trading for an older player with a massive contract?

Make it make sense. :ROFLMAO:

No trade clause.

I seriously doubt its Carr that doesnt want to go to Pittsburgh. I think the NFL is done with Carr as a guy you seek out to run your offense. The next job he ends up with will be someone settling on him because there just arent any other options. A team that cant find a chair when the music stops playing.

Tomlin hasnt had a losing season in his entire career.

The last thing he wants is a guy nearly a full season under .500 in Derek Carr.

Delusional thread. I've got no sauces but I'd bet everything Carr is behind center when the season starts, bar and injury.
Same here. No one’s trading for Carr and even if the Saints draft a QB odds are Carr will be the starter (at least to begin the season). I understand the urge by Saints fans to have the team have an entirely fresh start with Moore and co. but we have to be grounded in reality. Carr will be the Saints starter in 2025…..

Browns and Steelers are the only two teams who have need enough to work out a deal if all parties wanted it to happen. Hard to imagine Carr would waive his no trade clause for the Browns, which leaves just the Steelers.

The Colts could go for it as well. But that's a bit of a stretch but also a mild logical one. Richardson has shown he's undependable, and even his growth to be a franchise QB is looking dim.

Can't imagine any team wanting to trade for Carr.....
