Is it time to see what Easop Winston Jr and Kawaan Baker can do? (1 Viewer)

What is Callaway's weakness in regards to getting open? Is he just not as "sudden" as guys like Michael Thomas? Callaway certainly has the prototypical WR1 height/weight, and it's not like he's lineman slow. What gives?
It's not hard to make WR look human when he's the only other decent receiving option on the team. Cover him and AK well and you can almost expect rest of the guys to drop it. I get the feeling Callaway looks a lot better with another competent threat across from him, honestly. Not that we'll know unless someone unexpected decides to step up and play professional-level football.

I don't see us as legit contenders. We just don't have the fire power this year. So I'm all for seeing what some of the other guys can do. At least give one a chance each week. One roster spot on offense dedicated to a PS player and just see how they perform. Who knows what might happen. Perhaps getting an opportunity may bring something out of them. What I do know is that opportunity hasn't made the guys on the field each week seem to get better. So give someone else a chance.

Where is Lil Jordan Humphrey? He’s actually produced and seems capable of YAC. He has good hands from what I’ve seen. Why not more time?

If the Saints fall below .500 in a few weeks… I really hope they get Ian Book some experience and see if there might be something there
Man, this! I'd like to know before next year's draft/FA what we have with all of our QBs. I get you can't fully judge a rookie with half a season but to have some idea would be nice.

I think its time to get as many of our own guys out there as we possibly can. Even if we made the playoffs, we won't make a splash so lets see if a light goes off for any of these guys in a game day situation.

He's rounding off his routes.
Watch some snaps and you'll see it.

MT will make sudden/quick cuts that create about 3 yards of separation which is plenty enough when you have great hands.

Callaway seems to be extremely inconsistent in this area.

He'll either run a great route or round off his route too much creating the opportunity for DB's to jump the route.
Thus far, our QB's have been insanely careful with the ball. Winston and Trever have played about as smart as I've ever seen with what they have/had to work with.

I honestly think that we are toast. There is very little hope for an offensive improvement. If we make the playoffs, and even do something in the playoffs, it will have very little to nothing to do with the offense.
Agree. I honestly thought there was little chance this year anyway and was surprised with the decent start. That said, I think it's pretty much downhill from here and if so...I say we see what we have in the rookies and young guys. I would love to see Book get some playing time here and there.

So, here we are at halfway through the season at 5-3. I'm not quite ready to replace our receivers with practice squad players just yet, although they couldn't have performed much worse than the current ones did in the first 3 quarters last game. I'm not ready to throw in the rookie Ian Book at QB. We may be trying those things later on, but I am not ready to throw in the towel just yet. Some are very quick to, apparently. If these guys were ready or better than what we've already got, then they'd be playing.

Nothing these guys can contribute.

Hell the projected All Pro WR by so many Saints fans (Callaway) can barely catch a ball. It's a tough position to play in the NFL.
Calloway is currently our best receiver with TDs, why are you guys taking your frustrations out on him. The problem is no one is elite that draws double coverage.

This is the NFL, crazy things happen. Sometimes your starting QB goes down and a team rallies and wins the whole thing unexpectedly. I don’t expect that with this team, but crazier things have happened. I think we’ll start seeing some of these other guys as soon as it’s clear we’re going to miss the playoffs. Look for some of the many 3-4 win teams to put a couple of wins together to surpass our win total and then we may see some changes that try out some other guys to at least get them live nfl game snaps.
Philly is the only example with Foles but every other example means you're in trouble fighting to stay above 500.

I think he's getting the top corners now and he may not be the best route runner.

Yep, he is getting more attention and doesn't have the separation skills that an MT has (in fairness almost no one does)....sneaky close push off that goes unseen and quickness in small spaces....

What happened to that one camp beast from a year or two ago (he was from Northern Arizona I believe), people were saying he was going to be a mix of Michael Colston and Marques Thomas. Let’s see what he can do.
