Is it time to see what Easop Winston Jr and Kawaan Baker can do? (1 Viewer)

He's rounding off his routes.
Watch some snaps and you'll see it.

MT will make sudden/quick cuts that create about 3 yards of separation which is plenty enough when you have great hands.

Callaway seems to be extremely inconsistent in this area.

He'll either run a great route or round off his route too much creating the opportunity for DB's to jump the route.
Thus far, our QB's have been insanely careful with the ball. Winston and Trever have played about as smart as I've ever seen with what they have/had to work with.
Stills had a play last week where he rounded off a route badly and almost got it picked...or if it was by design, it was a lazy corner route...don't remember seeing him targeted after that either.

Sadly if they can’t crack this woeful WR lineup then I don’t think they have anything to contribute. It was a pipe dream I know but I had some hope for Baker, just because he was a WR we drafted….lol.

I keep seeing people say we’re not in a rebuild. Well, if this isn’t a rebuild (which I’m pretty sure it is), then maybe it should be. You can keep slapping cheap third-party parts from Auto-Zone on your old engine for only so long before it makes more sense to tear the thing down and rebuild it. Either way you’re not going to win many games until you fix everything.

Philly is the only example with Foles but every other example means you're in trouble fighting to stay above 500.
Jeff Hostetler took over for Phil Simms and led the Giants to a SB win back in the ‘80’s.

…but it was a different game back then.
Still… if a team has an elite defense, and gets hot at the right time.. it can be done.
The Bucs won a ring with Brad Johnson, and the Ravens did it with Trent “blanking” Dilfer!

Maybe so, but from a locker room morale perspective, you have to have this team believing that they are playing for something while there is still a chance. If you just throw a bunch of guys in and deactivate the guys that have been playing now, you’ll lose the locker room. These guys all have pride. Once it’s clear to everyone that the season is lost, they at least have the cover of giving opportunities to some of the guys that haven’t played to show what they have.
I agree, I'm just saying it's not common.

You are talking about two of the greatest defenses in modern times-the 80s Giants and 2000 Ravens. I don't think there is a defense in the league right now that is playing on that level. Do you think our defense is on that level?

Also Doug Williams with the 1987 Redskins.

Even the 1972 Dolphins ... they played most of the season with their backup QB Earl Morrall. Bob Griese came back to start in the Super Bowl. That was a heckuva hard line Don Shula drew about starters not losing their jobs due to injury: "Thanks for getting us to 14-0 and an AFC title -- Bob's back now, so take a seat!" Would not happen today.

...

EDIT: Nitpick -- Hosstetler's title with the Giants came after the 1990 season (Super Bowl XXV in January 1991).
