So getting to the age where that’s a legit question
Since Friday I’ve had some weird bug (slight nausea, body aches, little appetite- but no fever really)
So last night I got these chest pains (but really I think it was dehydration, actual chest muscle tightness), but I tell ya, nothing gives you a good night sleep like - “is this it? Am I going to have a heart attack in my sleep and my kids will find me dead?”

Fun times

I would wager way elevated blood pressure causing issues... First thing... Take your blood pressure immediately...

Better not die on me... I am still coming to your house for a few beers so we can talk politics... :ylsuper:

90bpm
High end of normal

That’s your heart rate, not BP.

There was that time I thought I had bronchitis and it turned out to be a massive pulmonary embolism. Ok, you probably don’t have that, but I’m at least here to remind you of the potential consequences of ignoring symptoms you can’t explain.

Maybe make an appointment and get checked out?

Chest as in pectorals or chest as in the center of the chest?

If it is not a heart attack, there is a condition, esophageal spams, which feel and act almost exactly like heart attacks. They are painful, but not life threatening. You'd get the Pink Lady drink from your doctor, and that's that.

This happened to my wife, that's how I know.

90 Beats Per Minute. Heart Rate . That's not bad.

The real question is whats your blood pressure? As in Systolic / Diastolic.

Normal is 120/80

If you have any doubts go to the ER.

NOT a Non-Urgent care

Grab yourself a couple aspirin, aspirin only, and head to the doctor. If there’s a question, go to the ER. I have done it once before and learned a whole lot about my health

Sounds like a hangover...(and hopefully, that's all it is)

As others have said, check your blood pressure and see a doctor (not a Doc-in-the-Box or a Quack Shack). Blood pressure spikes and fluctuations can do very weird things to the human physiology.

Hopefully you’re headed to the doc. Anyway here’s the test my doc told me to do. (I have wiring issues where my heart beats oddly). Take a bit of a walk. If you’re having any sort of heart blockage, you’ll be very tired and have pain in your chest. If you get feeling better, it’s anxiety or some other cause. With a heart attack any increase in demand will put additional pressure on whatever is having an issue. If it’s anxiety related, it will get your heart pumping and cycle back to a regular rhythm.

Of course if you suspect a heart attack you shouldn’t even be on the forum, but if you do start walking a bit have someone there and your cell phone with you

thank all yall
i don't think it was a heart attack
the thread was more about the mind racing with 'what if/could it be' than actual concern

but i will try the walk thing
and i have taken all other suggestions to heart as well
... to heart

Stay hydrated, take a B-complex, I personally prefer Pedialyte over Gatorade (too much sugar), but to each their own.

I am prone to heart palpitations when I get dehydrated, and it is scary, and I went to the ER this past spring and spent the night being monitored in the cardiac unit. Minor damage to heart muscle (based on blood biomarkers), but no other abnormalities. During that unpleasant phone call to Mom after the Docs informed me I was staying overnight and having tests done the next day, Mom told me that palpitations runs in the family.

Since then, I drink water after having booze, I completely stopped the pre-workout stimulant beverages, and things have been fine.

I thought I was having some issues a couple years ago. Had the whole range of tests . . . stress test, echo, etc. Everything was fairly normal and did not indicate any heart problem. Turns out I have some serious GERD that was causing everything. I'm supposed to stop eating spicy food and drinking coffee. So, yeah . . . that isn't happening. I am just taking prescription nexium to control it instead.

Believe me I know the feeling. As your heart hurts laying in an ER bed it does make you think. Been there, done that
