It Finally hit me!! (1 Viewer)

If Vilma and Morgan both have complete recoveries, our front sevent will be lethal.

I/QUOTE]

Those are some mighty big ifs. Plus, come on, there's nothing lethal about a group of aging, backup quality DT's. Stay away from all Kool Aid and like products. Now, Cromartie, Laws and Zbikowski coming aboard would be something to get excited about.

With the signing of Vilma, Morgan, Gay and Mcray we have begun to address our problems. Follow that up with three solid picks on d in rounds 1-3 and we will have succeeded in stabilizing the defense. It will continue to be a work in progress thru the 08 season but should be much improved over the 07 D.

dude looks to be a monster if he can stay out on the feild...

The fact that the Panthers made the Super Bowl before us makes me sick.

I like Vilma and Morgan a lot. IF they are healthy, it will tremendously improve our linebackers. That's exciting. But let's be reasonable in our hopes and expectations.

Linebackers aside (ad nauseum).

Grant and Smith were, at best, journeymen level DE's last year. Generated very little pass rush. Our DT's were marginal against the run and generated no inside push at all against the pass.

MM was great at one corner, but is coming off an ACL. David was lost, Craft is a career nickel/dime corner. Young, IMO, is an up-and-comer. He did get burned at times, but also showed a lot of promise. Safeties played pretty well against the run, but were suckers for the PA.

Offensively, it looks like status quo is the game plan. I just hope that they will give PT a real chance to get on the field regularly and I'm still hoping that RM will show us why he was our # 1 last year. I also hope that they will take off the kid gloves with DH and make him understand that this is his last shot.

He is pretty intimidating, but I can do without that stupid idiotic Panthers music.

Music was aweful, no question. Still making me feel sick. The thing that scares me with Morgan is the way he leads with his head. He is a concussion machine. If he could learn to get away from that, it wouldnt make my stomach cringe every time he makes a tackle next year. Hard to teach that at this point in his career. Dude is all instinct.

I don't think that is a fair assessment, especially since our defense was 13th in both rush yards per game and yards per rush, all with a poor linebacking corps. I think our DEs weren't allowed to full out rush most of the time because our D line was responsible for containing the run and protecting our LBs.
