N/S Ja’Marr Chase signs 4-year $161M extension ; Tee Higgins signs 4-year, $115M extension (125 Viewers)

That’s a big jump in AAV at WR. Jefferson is getting 35mil/year. Chase is over 40 now.
Saints sign Tee to that and I wouldnt bat an eye. Hes only considered WR2 becaise his WR1 is generational. Joe is gonna be a stat monster his whole career with those two.

That being said, theyre gonna have to hit on some UDFAs from now on to field a team where Burrow, Chase, and Higgins aren't completely wasted.

Man, there are people saying that teams should draft a RB and QB every yr, with these prices you need to draft a WR at least in the 2nd every yr just to keep cheap talent moving through the roster. C'mon down T-Mac

Yes, you have to draft and develop WRs and hope to hit on at least one.

Teams are having to build like 90s teams now due to the contracts the QBs and WRs are getting.

Stud QB
Stud WR1
Stud RB1

Build the supporting cast with drafted and developed talent.

The Bengals have been planning on this day. They got rid of Mixon and replaced him with a RB on a rookie deal. The got Gesicki on a bargain deal. They are going the route of Stud QB, Stud WR1 and WR2 with the supporting cast on rookie or bargain deals.

They have Chase Brown at RB and Gesicki at TE. They also have 2 young WRs they drafted.

Isn't Gesicki a free agent?

Im talking more about their lines. Theyre gonna have to draft and develop both sides and secondary.

Regardless, all things are possible if you have your QB. And that they have. Plus the weapons for him to work with.

Alright dang it. I don’t know what AAV means but it's become the new buzz wor....acronym for cap heads. AAV is the new "I've been watching film on...."
Average annual value. Fancy way of saying $40.25 mil/yr to impress your friends on the internet. Means absolutely nothing when a lot of the money isn't guaranteed, but I'm no GM/agent/cap expert.

They re-signed him.

Since they have all their weapons set on offense, they can use their draft picks for the line and defense

They should trade Hendrickson and use that draft capital to replace him and Hubbard who retired.

That is an insane amount of money to invest in two wide receivers.

Between Joey B, Chase and Higgins Cincinnati has around 40% of their cap tied up next year.
I think when Burrow's contract is up, the franchise tag will be the only thing that keeps him there. Maybe he'll find his way back to Louisiana in a few years.

Think they would have been better off getting some compensation for Higgins. That's way too much money tied up into three players all serving the single. passing game function.

A great QB, which I believe they have, doesn't really need two great $100 million-plus receivers. At some point, you need your great QB to be able to make others around him better, so that the cash can be spread elsewhere. JMO.

A WR2 making that kind of money is going to make Olave's next contract extremely pricey.

I was really hoping Higgins would leave, but only because of fantasy football reasons. I Chase in my keeper league and It gets tiresome when Higgins takes over a game and leaches pts away from Chase.

They have the cap space, next year they have over 140m in cap space but also have 40 less players under contract. This has not been updated on over the cap yet for those increases to the WR room. Either way they need cheaper talent in other places.
