Jake Haener makes most of competition (Article) (3 Viewers)

Pre draft he measured 5’11

Fresno listed him at 6’1” from what I see. Where do you find 5’11” and why would combine officials increase that by so much from 5’9” / 5’10”?

His NFL draft profile lists him at 6’0” but I think his official measurement was like 6’.75”

We need to see him standing next to Drew 😁

I said he looks 5’9 or 5’10” I read he measured 5”11. I saw that height a couple places. One is linked.

The praise Jake Haener received during last year’s training camp was scripted. Or rather, the compliments were partly the product of a script.

The way the New Orleans Saints ran practices last summer, players could look at the practice script to see what plays the offense and defense were running ahead of time. So for a rookie quarterback like Haener, that information went a long way in providing answers to the test. He performed well in those circumstances, and teammates and coaches commended him.

But then when the preseason began, and there was no script to reference, Haener struggled. He didn’t process plays nearly as fast as needed. He hunted for big plays instead of taking the easy completions.

“When you get in the game situations, it kind of sets you up to fail because you don't know what's going on,” Haener said.

Haener isn't deflecting blame or throwing anyone under the bus. But things are different this year.
I don't think the praise was scripted but the plays were. Yes all the QB's knew what play the D was running, which kinda defeats the purpose. but it was not scripted that the media praise JH. And from the reports I've seen is he's looked great in OTA's without knowing what the D is running

I have no idea why they would do that but this is why I called BS on a lot of the praise that people was trying to dump on Haener during those pre-season games. I felt a lot of it was tied to the manufactured narratives the media was putting out all through training camp but when you look at the games, it's no way we could be seeing the same thing..lol. But I also said that with all the hype about Rattler, we are missing that Haener might benefit just as much or more., from a change in offense.
Well he didn't know what the D was running in pre-season and looked very good in the Charger game , he had to throw 3 TD's to get 1

@webster something got wonky with the formatting but the link you added, I see him listed at 6’0”

Anyway, I feel pretty confident he’s 6’-6’1” range. I didn’t get the impression some of y’all did, seeing him on the field.

Now Ian Book looked pretty small

I can understand practicing the QB and offense against known defensive scheme. That's how you become familiar and confident working against that scheme. But in later practices, the defensive scheme should remain hidden to test recognition and reaction.

Carmichael’s system was stale and if we kept trying to force it on players we would have become irrelevant. Kubiak’s style is just the direction the league is going to.
I agree although imo we've been irrelevant for a few years now. Maybe this coming season will mark our return to relevance.

I think Haener is precisely 1" taller than Drew, who is 5-11.75 He's also about 15 Lbs heavier than Drew, who had a slightly slenderer build.

Everyone knows Haener is very smart, but his physical talents are often underestimated.

No way Haener weighs 200 lbs. He's a buck 190. I'm less worried about his height than I am his slim frame, especially as poorly as out Olines have played in recent years.
1190 pounds seems big enough to play QB
