Jameis motivational speech (1 Viewer)

Him getting popped for roids kept him out when Carr went down in Week 3, we really didn't have a choice. Either way he was a 4th round pick, similar to the Ian Book saga, if he sees the field it's because something has gone horribly, horribly wrong.

Then why take him when there were several good linemen available?

THIS TIMES A MILLION!!!! We should all be so gracious in our everyday living!
There is nothing that Jameis can do to put himself at the top of the QB rotation right now. No doubt he is doing all that he can to be prepared to go into a game and be successful in the event an injury to Carr presses him into service. So he is doing the next best thing to help make his team victorious... which is to support and pump up his teammates on the sidelines both before & during a game. He is a great guy to have in his role as the #2 quarterback. Not every backup would be as gracious and helpful as he has been. :9:

Agreed. Most #2s aren't as obviously involved with the team as Jameis is. I just think it's hilarious...from starting fights on the sideline to becoming the motivator, cheerleader, and mediator.

He definitely has grown up a lot compared.to his early years in the league.
May have only been one season, but never discount the Brees mentor factor. I think Drew went into the season knowing it'd be his last ride and he decided to really take Jameis under his wing, which was the reason Jameis basically took a league minimum deal with the Saints.

Winston is always positive on the sidelines and in the locker room.
Unfortunately, Haener didn't get to see the briefcase. He was a healthy scratch yesterday. He will never see the field this season not matter what happens. My biggest issue is the Saints moved up in the draft to get him and have done nothing to prepare him for the big leagues except pre-season games. There have been a few teams this year that have used their rookie QB's. I don't think DA even remotely considered playing him when Carr got banged up.

You have two veteran players with QB experience in the NFL and if Carr can't go you want to throw a rookie out there?

They've done nothing to prepare him for the big leagues? So he doesn't attend practices, he doesn't sit in the meetings in the same room with the rest of the experienced QB's on the team?

Saints fans are gonna Saints fan!!...................:idunno:

Put me in that group who are high on Haener, and anxious to see how/if he might develop. But hopefully not this year. I believe it's better for rookie QBs to "redshirt" rather than throwing them to the wolves. Haener was a 4th rounder....doesn't mean he can't play in this league....just means he wasn't READY to play in this league. Hopefully, a year of seasoning and pro-level conditioning and strength training are all that's needed?!

Unfortunately, he missed 6 weeks of that due to his suspension. That's a LOT, and at a critical time, for a critical position! I'm still a Haener fan, and I still want to see what he's capable of, but still hoping it isn't until 2024. If we see him before then, something went horribly wrong.

But now, I'm very concerned about Haener's future in NO. Has anyone else seen the news blurb that the Saints tried to poach Broncos QB Ben DiNucci from their practice squad?

What does this say about Haener's future prospects in NO? The bigger takeaway, IMO, is that most players in the league salivate for the chance to move up from the PS to an active roster....ANYONE'S ACTIVE ROSTER. It's a chance to show they belong. Yet, DiNucci viewed staying on the Broncos PS as a better opportunity than active roster for the Saints. He's probably right, but that's potentially a problem moving forward under the continued regime of DA. If players in the league would rather stay on their current PS roster, than sign with the Saints active roster, that's a peek into how the Saints are viewed around the league under DA. And it's probably a sneak preview of how FA is likely to unfold.

Maybe I'm wrong, and maybe I'm just alarmist. Or maybe I'm just ahead of the curve. Jeezus, I hope I'm wrong!

I think that was an issue of it's time, in that when Carr was down, the team didn't want to make Taysom and Haener the back ups behind Winston, because if they did, they'd be restricted in how they used them during the game by the emergency QB rule. If they wanted Taysom to be able to play his non-QB role, I suspect they also wanted a more experienced QB behind Winston.

With Carr back, things return to normal and the Di Nucci option fades as a beneficial one.

Well, THAT makes sense. Good point, and I appreciate your take.

But it still raises concerns for me. We'll never know the answer, but I wonder how many players would turn down the chance to be promoted from their team's PS, to the active roster for an offensive-minded "guru" like CSP? Any "advantage" we had in that respect, is long gone now. And sooner or later, the effects will be shown and known, if they aren't already.
