Something does not make sense. So they paid him $100,000 to add 2 additional days to his contract and add a void year? Sounds like they are trying to work out a new deal that allows for him to be release as a post-June 1 cut?Every site I go says there a 10.7m bonus… did he accidentally add a 0 in his tweet. I see nothing about 107m.
Edit: Still not seeing anything but maybe it’s true. But not a big deal if it is. 107m option (?) bonus spread over five years because of the void years. 20m a year BUT if he’s released before then it all becomes a big fat 0.
Maybe? I don’t really know. All I know is all the sites have his cap hit listed at 10.7 so that why I’m thinking maybe an extra 0 was added by mistake. Also IF the restructure includes a bonus of 107m there’s really no way around it. If he’s on the team that bonus kicks in. If not, it doesn’t and his cap hit doesn’t change.Something does not make sense. So they paid him $100,000 to add 2 additional days to his contract and add a void year? Yes, he would have been a free agent at the start of the year and all of his dead money would have hit in 2024. Now he is under contract to start the year, so we can designate him a post June 1 cut and spread the cap hit across two years. To get him to agree to the contract change that benefits us more than it benefits him, we paid him $100k.Something does not make sense. But that's OK, because some very well informed posters here were recently all like, 'thE tEAm cAN stiLL maYBe CHOoSe tO rE-SigN hiM'
Oh, sweet lord above. How high does the writing on the wall have to be? 10 feet? 20?They actually can. They could either work out a new deal before that deadline or sign him again after he becomes a free agent. I don't think it's likely after the end of the Atlanta game and I think Winston wants to have a shot to start which DA isn't going to give him. But, if he can't find that, he could be signed to backup again here.

They drafted a guy last year to groom as the next backup. They have been busy getting out from under Jameis' original 'starter QB' contract for over a year, ready to let him go. No amount of over-analysing an entirely overblown final play of the season changes any of that.
He gone. The plan has been that he be gone since at least the point they selected Haener. If not before.
