Seems things are still going great with the mirror adjustments. They completed aligning the segment sand they are now in the process of making them act as a single mirror instead of 18 individual mirrors.

Although Image Stacking puts all the light in one place on the detector, the segments are still acting as 18 small telescopes rather than one big one. The segments need to be lined up with each other with an accuracy smaller than the wavelength of the light.

I remember seeing it among the booths, etc. set up downtown during the Super Bowl in Houston a few years back. We got a couple of pictures with it. Son and daughter were taken in by all the sports stuff, but I admit my nerd self found it to be the coolest thing we saw the whole day.
So awesome to know we were standing and touching this thing that is now set to reveal all kinds of mind-blowing information about our universe.
