On the news page linked to Nola, is an article (you can't read unless you pay) that's entitled (I came away less optimistic). He said that KC was missing a lot of their players, so basically we shouldn't have been impressed by our teams performance.

I beg to differ. We were missing some of our starters too. Rashid Shaheed, Demario Davis, and Andrus Peat (if he's still a starter). But, the point is that our team was performing very well. And, it was against the defending Superbowl champions.

We were a 7-10 team last year, yet our starters - less the aforementioned) totally outplayed KC.

Jeff is totally off-base in this one. I mean, yes, I'd love to have seen RAM go up against Chris Jones, but I already know that RAM can handle him. And as for them missing some receivers, so what. Lattimore and Adebo and Taylor could handle them too.

Jeff may not be optimistic, but I am. I loved the 🔥 the team came out with. Cam Jordan doing backflips. Kahlen Saunders dancing. This team was 🔥 up, and that tells me about the character and makeup of this year's team over last year.

We held KC and Patrick Mahomes (the best QB in the NFL right now) to 31 yards of offense in the 1st quarter with our starters in the game. Our offense looked like a Drew Brees run unit - efficient and executing flawlessly.

Sneaky Pete showed that he can be a very good playcaller.

What's not to be optimistic about.

Lighten up Jeff and just enjoy the ride.

Dennis Allen said so himself that we have some things to clean up. That 3rd quarter was an absolute mess. Duncan is fooling himself if he doesn't believe that this win is something the team can build off though. It can inspire the team to perform better. I rarely get excited about pre-season games, but that 1st quarter felt different. First team was clicking and it felt like they were in mid-season form IMO. That's what we want to see.

Personally, I don’t put much stock in the first preseason game, but I think I would rather be less optimistic, then over optimistic. easier that way
I'd be less optimistic if the Saints had come out and played poorly. But, we dominated their starters you can't take away from that feat.

I'd have rather seen that first drive than us struggle so that's the positive take. Rest of the game are guys trying to secure a roster spot so nothing to write home about.

This team is the same as it has been for the last 17 years. If the QB plays well then the team will be good.

Carr looked extremely comfortable Sunday. If he levels up this year we will be really good and after one series we are trending that way.

We didn't win the Super Bowl Sunday but seeing it as anything but a positive is just trying to generate buzz and get traffic.

So basically there was no winning in his eyes. If we do well they were missing some guys and we shouldn't be happy. If we did poorly we should freak out.

He used to be the go to reporter for the Saints but now I don't even know if he's in the top 5. He's just salty he fumbled the bag.

Homie backed the wrong horse in a bid to move up to a national seat and he's still big mad.
