Joe Brady withdraws from Saints HC search (52 Viewers)

We literally settling for coaches that nobody wants now. That's some serious denial and copium.

Ben Johnson turned down the Washington job last year despite them picking #2 in a draft with insane QB talent. Was that a terrible job that nobody wanted? Was it copium to think they would still get a good HC?

Guys turning down jobs isn't always some major indictment of your team. And one guy turning down the job doesn't mean it's a terrible job or you can't get a good coach. Obviously the Jets, Raiders, Jaguars, and Bears have always hired great coaches so coaches they don't want must be horrible.

And we still have 4 very good options on the board in McCarthy, Moore, Kafka, and Weaver so who really cares if people think it's a sheetty job or not? It's not like anything can be done about it other than hire the guy you think can turn it into a great job.

There's no good way to spin it. We hear about coaches declining jobs from teams like the Raiders. I'm struggling to think of a time when a coach declined a second interview for a good team. Especially for someone so young, at worst you get interview experience.

If he was so great why does he keep getting passed by each cycle.

I’ve been saying all along. The guy isn’t who people think he is. He needs a lot more seasoning.

What good teams are hiring a coach?

How about we just not spin it? Not all news needs to be spun.

Washington. Ben Johnson turned them down last year and they are in the NFC Championship game now.

Yeah it isn’t spin. Nick has it right. No spin required and that’s alright. The situation was worse in 06, let’s get the cap right, draft right, move forward. Only way to go is up.

And like clockwork this is being spun as being as bad as possible.
It is pretty telling about this job when you cannot get people to come in and interview. Even people who cannot get in-person interviews with any other team.

Ben Johnson was the hottest name.
Vrabel was a well respected winning coach.
Glenn was a coveted up and coming coach with interviews with every team.
Brady. Nobody else wants Brady as HC this cycle.

It looks really bad for the organization. Now, it may end up that they may hire someone miles better than Brady, but there is an absolute stink on this team right now and I hope Mickey is thinking about where the smell is coming from.

Only 32 jobs. Yet, some people don't want it.
Well, for some guys ... yeah, it's one of 32 jobs AND right now is their best chance of landing one.

For Brady, he can be an OC for another several years, knowing that if he can keep succeeding with the Bills his star keeps getting all the brighter.
